spotted roads
by Astralka
What I noticed at once and observed it as a funny thing, were the chewing gums on the pavements everywhere in the centre of the town. First I thought it is a special stone they make the roads to look dotted, because most of the chewing gums must have been years old ! I wonder since when they produce chewing gums in Ireland, since ages, I would say :o)
Lar Connacht
by Mauzl
... I'm an absolute "water-lover" - water intrigues me big time & the Lar Connacht/Connemara area was almost like heaven for me, because of the many lakes everywhere and the open sea close by... ;o)))
Finally, some decent music
by orlikins about The GPO
The GPO is the other big nightclub in Galway. The music is more "indie" than in the Alley. I love that kind of stuff.
Its *very* popular with the University students, especially the good-looking ones :) t-shirt and combats are fine :)
The best Mexican
by sabsi about Cactus Jack's
Cactus Jack is a popular Mexican restaurant in town. It's rather pricey (main course are about 16 Euro) but as far as I remember from 2001 it's worth it. The food is very tasty and the atmosphere could have been nice - if only next to us a group consisting of half Northern Ireland would have been a bit quieter. I had a lovely Cajun Chicken Burger there... and they had Banoffi (Banana & Toffee) Pie as well!!! My favourite cake :)
Aran Islands
by cheryl-b
Delightful group of islands just off the western coast of Ireland. The Aran Islands are the source of the famous Aran sweater, and more importantly, the host of several well-preserved ring forts and some early Irish churches. We visited the ring forts in the fog, which added to the mystery, but foiled our photos.
