Great Location - But Spendy

Spent two nights here last November. The location was fantastic - right next to the main shopping and eating area and the waterfront. An added bonus was the narrow but fast Corrib River running right behind the hotel that we looked out on. Comfy and clean, Jury's is Ireland's answer to Holiday Inn in the US. Don't expect luxury but you have everything you need.

But beware - Galway is a party town and the walls seemed very thin. I had thought with a river side room rather than the street side things would be fairly quiet. Both nights we listened to other people's parties and got very little sleep. Would love to return to Galway - but will shop around for another place to stay. But you can't beat the central location. Can just stagger back after an evening of the craic!

Pub and restaurant were decent enough, but with downtown Galway right outside the front door, we didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel. Great pubs and restaurants right up the road.

Unique Quality: Ideal location - Spanish Arch just across the street and all the great restaurants and shops start as you come out the front door and turn left.

Great Location!!

Three of us shared a hotel room; two beds, tv,dresser, desk, and full bathroom. It was clean, and comfortable. The hotel staff were friendly, but not from Ireland, so not very helpful. The restaurant offers a basic menu, but it's a little expensive. The food wasn't bad, though. We found it a little loud in the morning...they collect beer kegs in the morning (and there are LOTS of them to be collected). I really loved the area! We paid 99 Euro/night in June. I would stay here again, but maybe ask for a room that doesn't face the main street.

Unique Quality: The view was excellent! We faced the Spanish Arches.

It was time to fix the finger...

Instead of going to Cork (due to the amt. of time it would then take to drive to NI) or to Limerick (late in the day, again nothing booked), I decided to stay in Galway. Went to the Jury's Inn at the end of the main pedestrian walkway, since I need a clean place where I could spread out and take my time cleaning and fixing my sliced pinky.

It's situated right next to the Corrib, and my room was right on the corner looking out to the bay. It was a decent room. Large bed. Futon that would have spread out to sleep another 2 people. Decent bathroom. Lots of TV stations.

I didn't eat at the restaurant for any meals, but it all looked quality. They have their own car park that is shared with the Spanish Arch Hotel.

Average Hotel

Jurys are a chain of hotels and they feature in most Irish cities, this particular hotel was fairly basic, the rooms were en suite and they were clean......nothing special.

Unique Quality: The best thing about this hotel is its location.....brilliant, just a few minutes walk from the city centre where everything is going on.

Jurys Inn Galway - Loved it.

Stay there in April 2005. We paid $105 for a double, not including breakfast. Great location, very clean and great value (given the fact that you can not find anything for less than 30 euros/person). I can see how it can be noisy during summer time b/c it is in the center of all the action. But you can't beat the location. Definitely recommend it. Be careful though: They charge something like $10 for parking per day which is not included in the price.

could do better

Booked 2 nights at this hotel. On the way to the hotel on the first day we were advised that the hotel was overbooked for the first night , despite the rooms being booked several months in advance of our arrival.

We were offered alternative accomodation for the first night along with free taxi transfers to and from the centre of galway. We also recieved free dinner the second night.

This is the second occasion that jurys has failed to honour bookings. The other occasion was in Dublin about 2 months ago.

The hotel is in a fabulous location which is why it is so popular. It is a busy hotel. Some of the staff could be more friendly.

The rooms are reasonably clean but spartan.

The food is an absolute delight.

Served its purpose

by TripAdvisor Member Anaps

We stayed at the Jurys for 4 nights - the location is great because it is right in the center of Galway close to shops and restaurants.
BUT we did have to wait for the rooms when we were checking in which was an annoyance after flying 6 hours and then driving an hour and a half from Shannon airport. The rooms were clean and it overall served its purpose for the few nights were in town.

Health and safety would have a field day

Where do we start? Firstly I should mention the terrible noise at 3 am outside one of our rooms, or perhaps I should mention the grotty bathroom, no wait, how about the blood (and other bodily fluid) stained bed sheets, or alternatively I could mention the fact that the staff in the hotel handed over the wrong parking ticket for us to leave the (9 Euro, rip-off!) parking place.

Basically this place is a over-priced disgrace even when you get the room discounted or refunded. I wouldn't stay here again unless my life depended on it and even then I might choose death.

On the plus side, Galway wasn't that bad.

Won't be back!

Upon arrival advised "rooms not ready yet" and pointed to the town for " a couple of hours". Location seems to be the only thing going for this hotel. It is right at the end of a street of wonderful bars and restaurants.

Returned some hours later to find the room dirty and smelly. Stains on carpets and beds. Bathroom damp and mouldy with mildew on all walls and ceiling. Moved room to one that was not really a great improvement.

Breakfast costs extra €12 which is way too steep for an hotel which is already vastly overcharging for the standards given.

Had to pay €9 per day to park there!

Residents bar closed at 01:30!

If you are going on a stag/hen party weekend and are unconcerned about the standard of accommodation then this would have been a choice, however the price would probably knock it off any potential short list.

There are a vast number of better hotels in and around galway and I would recommend any of them before Jurys Inn.

We were there with a wedding party and 3 couples had to have change of room due to the state of our original accommodation here.

Not Good At All.

Great Location!

We expected the Super 8 and were suprised with a Courtyard by Marriott!

It's always hard to figure out what a chain hotel in Europe will be like. This one, located right at the end of the pedestrian shopping and eating street, is excellent.

Think Courtyard or Hampton and you will know what to expect. The rooms are smallish - we had 2 beds in each room, with a small chair and lots of closet space. The location is the best. The hotel has a small pub and beer garden right up against the river. The breakfast area is basic, but tasty.

The staf is very friendly an accomodating - but do not expect rooms to be ready early. They hold fast to their 2pm check in time.

Highly recommended for short stays while touring Ireland.
