Need an address

by aeastabrooks

We stopped at Joyces Craft Shop and had a delightful time talking with the owner. He was a world of information - we made sure to stop at everything he said "Don't miss." I've got a book of Washington State I want to send him. I figure he shared his country with us - I'd love to share my state with him. If anyone has an address, I'd really appreciate it! Loved Ireland - loved the people - would love to go back again some time!

Re: Need an address

I have found several websites that refer to this place, and they all say:
Joyce's Craft Shop
Recess
Connemara
Galway
Ireland

That seems like a strange address, but I gather you were on the N59 east of Lissoughter up in Connemara? "Strange" addresses are the norm in Ireland.

Their phone number is reported as +353 (0)95 34604

Good luck!

Bill

Yes that is the correct address - in this case Recess is a townland - not something set back from something else!!!

They have a famous monument to "nothing at all" in the car park opposite the shop!!

Travel Tips for Galway

GET A MAP!

by Sagespot

Wow - talk about a ton of round-abouts!! When you come into Galway City from the East, make sure you acquire a good map. Not only will this help you navigate the streets in town, but it will also show you the best main roads to head out towards Connemara and down towards the Burren.

Trust me. Get a map.

Galway Tourist Guide

Pick up this fee copy of the Galway Tourist Guide at the tourist office on Forster Street. It is very small and easy to carry, and has a wealth of information about all different things that will help you for your stay in and around Galway City.

Jazz, big Band, comedy, latin etc

Very modern looking bar for Galway - there is none of the "Oirish" look here.

It's the live music that really makes it, and my favourite is definely the Black Magic band. It's not always the same guys who play but up to 25 of them might by playing at one time.

They are so good I booked them as the entertainment at my wedding a couple of years ago and they went down a storm.

If they are on - go. none

Fly to Galway

by orlikins

Galway does have a small airport which services the Aran Islands and Dublin. You would be best advised to book a flight to Shannon airport and get a bus/hire a car to Galway (no train service between Shannon/Limerick City to Galway yet)

McDonagh's

by thunderbox about McDonagh's

These are the best fish & chips in Galway. They fry the chips so well that they're as crunchy as bag chips with a soft inside. The decor is cute, they have newspaper and magazine clippings all over and a whole nautical theme going on in the dining room. The customers are a mix of ourists and locals with more tourists in the dining room. fish and chips with vinegar. YUMMMMMMM!
