Stands Out Above The Rest!

by TripAdvisor Member NewYorkTwin

The Petra House is clustered among a number of guesthouses but once inside it stands alone with its charm and hospitality. We were pleasantly greeted by the innkeeper who proved most helpful in answering all our questions. Our room was really nice and the breakfast was fantastic!

Excellent

We have stopped at Petra House on two occasions now and both times we found it to be excellent . Place is clean, breakfast top notch and the owners very helpful and polite. It is also in great location, 5 mins walk to the centre. Will def stop here again.

Perfect B & B

by TripAdvisor Member TXNY

Recently spent 11 days touring Ireland and stayed in 8 different B & B's. When we arrived at the Petra House we were greated warmly by Frank even though we were earlier than expected. Our room had all the nice touches like kleenex, shampoo and face clothes. The breakfast that Joan cooks is one of the best. Our room overlooked the back garden which I thought was lovely. We enjoyed our trip to Galway and would definitely stay at the Petra House again if we returned. When visiting the Petra House be sure to check out McDonagh's Restaurant for the best fish and chips in Ireland.

Wonderful B&B

We were coming through on an Ireland tour and stayed here for two wonderful nights. We were happily greeted by Frank and his wife. He offered to carry my bags for me, which I thought was very nice as most B&B's do not do this.

The hotel is more like a home, which in my opinion is what B&B's should be like. Our room upstairs was huge. Everything was immaculate. We had a great view out of the bay window to the street. The sitting room downstairs was so homey. The little dog, Ming, was so cute. They are just the friendliest and nicest hosts that we had on the entire trip.

Their breakfast was also the best we had on tour also. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in the area.

Repeat Visitor who'll be back for more

Have stayed there every year during the galway film fleadh. The owners are lovely and generous with breakfast and amenities. The house is very homey and comfortable, and its really nice to be so close to the city centre without the loud neighbors or street noises of the city.

I'll be going back there (hopefully) soon. Love the place!

Couldn't Be Better

My wife and I are from Phoenix Arizona and we spent three weeks recently traveling in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland. This B&B was the best of all the ones we stayed in. Definitely 5 out of 5 stars across the board. If you're going to Galway I recommend it 100%.

Perfect stay

My husband and I stayed in 3 different Irish cities, and this was our favorite accomodation. Our room was nice and the breakfast absolutely delicious (LOVED the scones.)

The location was very close to Eyre Square, and there are a couple of pubs on the way as well.

We met Frank when we first arrived and he was very helpful with maps and possible side trips from Galway. He was hilarious too - made our breakfasts fun.

We are DEFINITELY coming back here.

Truly the BEST B&B in Ireland!

by TripAdvisor Member nsimone74

My husband and I just got back from Ireland and we had a great time. We traveled to Galway, Dingle and Dublin- and by far our 1 night stay at Petra House out shined the whole trip. Frank and his wife are the epitome of hospitable. We arrived from Boston to Shannon at 5:30AM, drove to Galway and arrived at the Petra house at 9AM. As you can imagine we were beyond exhausted. We walked into the Petra house in dire need of sleep and a real meal- but we were hours early for our check in time. Despite the fact that Frank and his wife were in the midst of serving a busy breakfast they kindly greeted us and asked us to sit in the living room. Just a few minutes later Frank asked if we were hungry and would we like to see our bedroom! (Fortunately our room was free this was a Thursday morning) He answered our prayers – and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and shown to our adorable bedroom. The rest of our short stay was cozy and peaceful. Our only regret was that we didn’t have a chance to stay longer!

Our favorite place

by TripAdvisor Member mgpstravels

We loved the Petra House! It is clean, beautifully decorated, spacious rooms, lovely touches to make you feel special, outstanding service and breakfast. Frank and Joan made us feel like family. They are a lovely couple. Staying with them was the high point of our week. I can't wait to get back there.

Lovely propery!

Greeted by Frank and his adorable son upon arrival after a long drive (got stuck behind a bus)and a round of golf at Lahinch. The rooms are cozy and comfortable with TV, and a lovely view of their spectacular garden out back. Make sure you ask to see it if you are a gardener. The sitting room is filled with Joan's collections of Llado. The breakfast room is equally as lovely and the breakfast is made to order and superb. Our host and hostess were very hospitable and helpful with places to eat and where to go. Within walking distance of Eyre Square and we also walked to the Quay area but it started to rain, so hailed a cab back-7 minutes. Recomment Au Pucan within 10 minutes walk for dinner. Recommend the Front Door for dinner and traditional music in the Quay area...great ice cream for dessert! Loved the Petra House!
