If you bring children with you, there is a Peter Pan's in Galway.
My daughter will not let up until she's deposited here for an hour.
They are very professional, plenty of supervisors, etc. If you want an hour or two to shop, leave the hubby here with the kids :):)

... MUST see!
This is a part of Ireland (West Coast) where people still speak mostly Gaelic & there are at least 5 different types of landscape on the Connemara peninsula.
Important: if you have, get a Irish/Gaelic dictionary to learn about various road-signs ;o) - otherwise you might end up on a total different spot than you'd planned...
Also: never put your camera too far away - lot's of great photography-opportunities!!!

Fat Freddys: Cheap, cheerful and eternally trendy pizza joint oozing with character. Nab yourself a window seat and watch the word go by. Not the best food in town, but certainly one of the best atmospheres.
McDonaghs: A fish and chip eatery and a Galway tradition. High-powered business execs sit beside crusty new age travelers (sorry, but its true!) scoffing the best fish and chips for miles.
Gemeles: Mid to high priced. Excellent food and service in relaxed surroundings.
The Oyster Rooms: In the Great Southern and in my opinion some of the best food in Galway with an amazingly reasonable wine list. Strange on both accounts for a large hotel.
Galway Cathedral
by wadekorzan
Galway Cathedral is officially called the Catholic Cathedral of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven and St. Nicholas. The exterior of the cathedral isn't too spectacular, but the interior is definitely worth seeing. There is a path along the water to the Salmon Weir Bridge.
