A really comfortable bed with plenty of room. Nice hot shower and very clean. We were offered the free use of the house computer when my laptop wouldn't work in the bedroom, but after it did in the sitting room near the computer. Just had a full "Continental " b'fast in the morning and it was more than enough.
We paid 60€ for the double inc b'fast.
Warning - The Ard Eoinin was due to close on the 15th October 2012 for refurbishment and should re-open around April 2013, but best check before.
When you turn right at the church onto the L1320, there is a pub that a couple of nights a week has sessions. Mike Scott of the Waterboys often sits in here as does The Edge (U2). We weren't lucky that night though.
I felt as if I had just walked through the door at a favorite relative's. The welcome was warm and sincere. The Burkes go out of heir way to make you feel well attended without hovering.
They will book your ferry for you, should you want to visit the Arans. They will book you on one of the Connemara Bus tours, shoud that be your heart desire. They can tell you of off the beaten path finds in the Connemaras which you will never hear mentioned in any guide book.
All of the rooms are ensuite,so sharing a bathroom isn't a worry. It is a non-smoking residence, which was a plus for me. The rooms and the entire house are tastefully furnished with antique furnishings mixed throughout. It feels comfortably lived in, as if it was hand down from generation to generation.
