Wonderful Stay - Clean and Hospitable

by A TripAdvisor Member

My wife and I and another couple stayed here for two nights on June 25th & 26th 2005. We had wonderful harbor views in a regular room (rooms 4 & 7). Both rooms were spotless and spacious. More importantly, we checked in late on a Saturday and all of the laundromats were closed until Monday. The owners went out of their way to allow us to do two loads of laundry since we were at the very end of our clean clothes after our first week in Co. Clare! Surpassing this was the incredible breakfast - the omlettes and pancakes are works of art. The cost translated to about $150 US per couple (euro trading at $1.24) but considering the fact that it is a 3-5 minute walk to town centere, and the breakfast was so wonderful, it is a bargain. This was my second time in Dingle and the best accomodations by far.

Nice but Not Exceptional

by A TripAdvisor Member

I'm a little surprised by all the effusive praise in other reviews. Our room was fine but nothing memorable. And, it seemed like there were several other places like this in Dingle (including one right next door). We weren't too jazzed about Dingle the town (kind of boring and full of Americans), but we did really enjoy driving around the Dingle peninsula.

Great Food,great hospitality,great location

My husband and i spent one night in Heatons guesthouse. Our short stay was very enjoyable. The breakfast was exceptional and there was a large variety of choices on offer eg. fresh fish, continental breakfast, full irish, pancakes and a delicious selection of fruits, juices, cereals breads and cheeses .The staff were extremly helpful and the rooms were immaculate. If possible request a room at the front of building as the view of dingle harbour is breathtaking.Dingle town centre is approximately 5 minutes walk, this guesthouse is not among the cheapest on offer in dingle but is well worth the extra euros. We will definitely return.

Wonderful, Relaxing Haven!

Throughout our trip to Ireland we booked accomodations based on location and proximity to nightlife. Because of this, we gave up the luxury of a quality accomodation. This was not the case at Heaton's Guesthouse. Our stay provided the best of both worlds. It is situated about a 5-minute brisk walk from town. (We walked it in the pouring down rain and it still wasn't that bad.) The guesthouse has a beautiful view of the bay and a beautiful garden out back.

The hosts were very pleasant. Cameron provided a great recommendation to drive the Connor Pass. We very much enjoyed the scenery on this mountain road. The rooms at Heaton's Guesthouse are very nicely decorated and the bed was very comfy. I understand this due to Nuela washing and hang drying the nice quality sheets.

Finally, the breakfast was very good. It was nice to have choices like omelettes and pancakes after nearly a week of simply being offered "traditional Irish breakfast."

If we had our trip to do over again, we would have spent more than one night in Dingle. The town is quinnessentially Irish and there are so many things to experience within close proximity.

Easy to Love

Heaton's is a lot like an American Hotel, but with B&B perks. Our room was good-sized and clean with nice decor (ours had a stylish satin duvet) and great bathroom. Our room was on the ground floor facing the water, and our view was through the parking lot but still pretty nice. The service was fantastic. But the best part was the breakfast! Everyone says it, and it's true. The dining area is charming and the food was awesome. We tried the special porridge with dark brown sugar, cream and Drambuie which was fantastic. It was presented to us by Mr. Heaton and another young server almost as if they were performing a ceremony. Sounds weird, but it really made it special. Another morning, we tried the pancakes, which were the special of the day. They were excellent, less cakey and more spongey. The whole experience was very gourmet. We loved it and it was worth splurging a bit.

Great place!

We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this place is. Great location, food and very clean. Plus they helped with all the reservations for dinner. Be sure to get the pancakes for breakfast.

Heaton's is great!

Agree with everyone else. We had a terrific stay. Room was very nice with good sheets, an excellent mattress and good bathroom. Very clean and everything very up to date. Very nice quality duvet cover and curtains in a discreet damask pattern. Although we were on the first floor and overlooked the car park, that was ok as it was not busy and we could see Dingle Bay from the room as well. The Heaton's are very congenial, and are exactly the type of folks who should be in the hotel business. I will echo other reviewers that the breakfasts are superb. You will want for nothing. My husband had the catch of the day for breakfast one morning and said it was the best peice of fish he had in Ireland. I had the porridge the day we walked up Brandon Mountain, and it kept me going! By the way, if you are walking up Brandon Mountain, beware, this is not the easy walk that the Frommer's Guide makes it out to be. Unless you are extremely fit and do hikes like this regularly, it will not take you 4 hours return. Bank on 5 or a bit more, and take planty of water. Proper clothing, poles and boots are a must on this one as the last bit of the hike is a very steep scramble, but oh so worth the view. If there is a breeze when you start out, be aware that it will be extremely windy up top.
Another tip, if you need laundry done by this point in your trip, there is a well priced launderette in town that will have things washed and ready for you by the end of the day if you drop them off in the morning. Just ask at the hotel and they will explain where it is.
You will not regret your stay at Heaton's, and I am picky.

Best B&B

by TripAdvisor Member ejworden

This place was amazing. Great view of the water and the owners always have smiles on their faces and great with advice. The rooms are spotless and the breakfast was amazing with the best pancakes I have ever had. They also own the Castlewood next door which our friends stayed at and said it was equally great.

Wonderful

I thought Heatons was a wonderful guesthouse. The host was very warm and helpful and the rooms and common rooms were immaculate and well supplied. Our host told us our room was about to be re done but we thought it was beautiful as is. The breakfast room was really pretty and had a relaxing vibe and the breakfasts were great. We did meet a lot of Americans in Dingle but I still found everyone I met warm and open. Dingle was the highlight of our trip and I read that it has one of the highest concentrations of historical sites. Our rides around the coast were amazing - beehive huts, ringforts, beautiful views.
