The Moorings Guesthouse: Best Kept Secret

by poppy6488

Welcoming, friendly, laid back atmosphere, even during busy periods.
The food is varied and the portions are ample. You will not find fresher fish dishes...out of the boat on the harbour and almost straight to your plate!
Definitely worth a visit.

Right on the harbour, with great views.
There is a seating area outdoors, just across the road, where I have actually watched a dolpin family swim and jump. A very leisurely place to write ones postcards!
Really wish you were here?!

Valhalla: A Kenmare B&B with sweeping views

by donpaul77

We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful B&B. It is six miles from the village Kenmare, along the Ring of Kerry. The owners were lovely and the breakfast was the best we had on our entire trip. The owners had built the house themselves as a B&B not too long ago. It is contemporary but still has a cozy, country feel to it. The rooms are bright and relaxing, as are the common areas.

The house is built on a hill, over looking a bay and the mountains beyond...it's really nice.

Milltown House: Treat yourself right in Dingle

by donpaul77

If you find that you haven't been spending enough money on your Ireland trip (haha) and you want to step it up a bit, perhaps a night or two at the Milltown House will suit you. We spent a night there while we were stopping in Dingle on our trip around the Ring of Kerry. In addition to offering that extra bit of comfort over a B&B, the Milltown House has some history to it. During the filming of 'Ryan's Daughter' Robert Mitchum lived here with his family. The house is speckled with memorabilia from the film and I believe they air Ryan's Daughter every night, via closed circuit tv.

The rooms are lushly and romantically and decorated and the view from the observatory, across Dingle Harbor is lovely. The guesthouse is 3 KM from downtown Dingle, which is close enough to walk home if you've had a few too many.

From the guesthouse, you can look across Dingle Harbor to Dingle town, not to mention the hilly scenery beyond. The breakfast we had there was outstanding, consisting of crepes and such. Whatever you want, really.

You can also spend some time roaming the common areas, gazing at the film memorabilia on the walls.

Calafont B&B: Good accomodation

by EPoodle

We wanted to stay only a night in Portmagee so that we are there in the morning to go to Skelligs.
It was end of July and this B&B had very good price (a bit cheaper than others we found).
We didn't have en-suite because we booked only few days before arrival, but the lady organized breakfast for us and a couple who we were sharing the bathroom with that way that we need the bathroom at different time.

We arrived very late because of the late train from Dublin to Killarney 1 of us took. They were very nice to wait for us.
Lady is very pleasent and prepared very good Irish breakfast.
The rooms and bathroom are clean and warm.

They can organize trips to Skellig as well.

It is good to stay in Portmagee if you are planning a trip to Skelligs. All the boats leave at 10 so it's good to wake up there.

I think, it's worth to stay more than we did in that area.

Fleming's White Bridge Caravan Park: Camping in Killarney

by vbede

We spent three nights at this very busy campground just outside Killarney. Town is a short hike away, at least a kilometer from camp to the centre of Killarney. The facilities are excellent including showers, bath, enclosed eating and meeting areas and adequate space. All levels of camping and caravaning are accepted. The rates are higher than we usually encounter; we paid 30 euros a night for a family size tent without electricity.

Excellent covered facilities and bathrooms.
All levels of accomodation available.

The Lighthouse B&B: Our 2nd night, on the Dingle Pinensula

by danmcf

Found this B&B at TripAdvisor.com. Well regarded and accepted the vouchers that we were using.
Nicer arrangement than our Ennis B&B, with a breakfast room & guest sitting room, both with views of the harbor.
The daughter was pleased to find a hair dryer, and the tv had an LCD screen. All in all, a bit nicer than the 1st B&B, but then Dingle is a tourist destination and there is more competition.

After checking in, we drove the Slea Head Drive for spectacular views and archeological sites. Walked into town for dinner & the Trad music session at 'an Droicead Beag'.

After our full Irish breakfast the next morning, we were on our journey once again.

Really liked the views, and the brass telescope in the sitting room was a nice touch.
Very clean and our hostess, Mary Murphy, was very friendly.
We had a pleasant stay & I would rate this B&B well.

The Moorings B&B: Best B&B to access the Skelligs

by Logic_Girl

This is a fairly pricey B&B but it is worth it...rooms are sparkling clean and service is great. Their restaurant is also pricey but the food is sensational especially the fish, which the owner gets fresh every day. You can watch him trot over the road and buy the fish straight from the trawlers. In Portmagee there isn't a whole lot of choice, the entire town consists of just one street!

Stella Doyle B&B (Private): Best kept secret in Dingle Town.

by ladyanne

Stella Doyle's Bed and Breakfast is not advertised in most guide books, etc. She is the ex-owner of the well known Doyle's Restaurant in Dingle Town which is now under different management, and now runs this private bed and breakfast by recommendation of Patricia Preston Tunison who is an Irish guide. She may not accept you but if you use Patricia's website as your source of information, she probably will.

Her B&B sits on a hill at the top of John Street which is quite aways from the main center of town, and walking back would be tough. There are no signs outside her house, a modest brownstone type of house painted purple. She rents only two rooms with a double bed in each one. I would not recommend children staying here.

Stella loves to talk and she will treat you as a guest in her home....it is more of a home envirement with the dining area as part of her kitchen and living room. This area has a full glass wall overlooking the hills of Conor Pass and Slievanea Mt. with fields and houses in the distance.

Stella is an excellent cook, but her choices will be limited to what she has for that day. She will make reservations for you at the best restaurants and help you sign up for a private tour of the Dingle Peninsula and Slea Head.

Her rooms are on a separate floor at the bottom of house, with a terrace door to the back. Each room is ensuite with a nice clean bathroom.
Her furnishings are mostly antiques and original art. Very charming. I do wish she had more comfy chairs in the rooms for reading or a lounge just for the quests.

I highly recommend Stella Doyle's.

Kilburn House B&B....Farmhouse.: Perfect Location to tour County Kerry.

by ladyanne

The Kilburn House is an authentic original County Kerry farmhouse nestled in an area that is central to all touring of County Kerry. Perfect location. It has been updated to accommodate the modern traveler with conveniences, yet a great traditional Irish breakfast.

Although the outside of the farmhouse looks quaint and old, the inside has been striped of it's old charm. However, Podge and Gret Leane are wonderful hosts, with three beautiful children.

The location is the best....beautiful views of Dingle Bay and nestled in the middle of both peninusulas of Iveragh and Dingle. There is also a ruin castle on the property to explore.

Lovely lounge with open fire hearth, cozy and private. Rooms quiet and private, separated from the family.
Great breakfast with a menu choice, also served us black and white pudding, which we did not have offered to us at any other B&B. Gret's porridge was the smoothest and creamiest we had on our trip.
