Tara Farm Morning - View from the BalconyKenmare Horse Fair
On the weekend nearest to 15th August each year is the Kenmare Horse Fair in County Kerry.
The centre of the town is jam-packed full of stalls ,booths and fortune-telling caravans and the area around Fair Green is roped off for the horse market there are horses of all kinds from tiny ponies up to thoroughbred racehorses can be seen and it's a really fun weekend.
Accomodation is at a premium though that weekend and even at our b&b (Rockvilla)2 miles out of town we will have dozens of people looking for a room each night of that weekend ... sometimes I wish we could add a folding extension to the house to help people out - Restaurants get pretty full too and the overspill even goes as far as Killarney 23 miles away. The evening gets fairly boisterous with musicians playing in most of the pubs and there's lots of fun and games.
