Magnificent Kenmare
We came across this hotel last year and called in without a reservation. After a drink on the terrace we asked to see a room. It was what we always expected Ireland to be. Its is full of charm with a wonderful atmosphere. The service is perfect and the staff are so nice. The interior might be a little less than chic in places but it doesn't matter. Sor close to the village of Kenmare and golf course i am not sure what else you would want. It is expensive but if i could i world go back.
Unique Quality: The spa is divine. We did not use it as time did not allow but it looked fab and by all accounts is.

Ring of Kerry hotels
Hi,
We'd like some hotel recommendations for the western part of Ring of Kerry, although could include Kenmare. We'd prefer 3 or 4 star this time (have used B&Bs previously).

In Kenmare, You might check out the Park Hotel Kenmare, http://www.parkkenmare.com/, which is a five-star hotel. The Kenmare Bay Resort has just undergone major renovations and reorganization, http://www.kenmarebayhotel.com/, you might take a look at twhat they have to offer, as well. There is another, The Brooklane Hotel, http://www.brooklanehotel.com/, which has just recently opened. If you are wanting something that has history, look to the Lansdowne Arms Hotel, which has a elegance befitting its Victorian heritage, http://www.lansdownearms.com/nhome.php.
Hope these give you a good sense of direction.

Many thanks for your suggestions. We may be able to try any of these hotels on a future trip, but we made reservations at the Derrynane Hotel, which we hope will be as good as the ads seem to say. Thanks again.

You shant go amiss in choosing the Derryane. It is a wonderful place! I am glad that you found something which suited you. I hope that you will have time to walk through Derrynane Park, as it is a truly magical place. That being said, I am at a loss to name one place in the Kingdom of Kerry which isn't magical.
