Our stay at the Arbutus Hotel in Killarney, Ireland, was wonderful. It had all the old world charm and beauty that made us feel welcome and special. The lobby decor was lovely; the bar was fantastic in its historic decor; the rooms welcoming.
The service was superb. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Michleen at reception could not have been more helpful with providing directions for us as we drove off the next morning. Betty in the dining room was most attentive. And, the food was delicious.
We were located one block from the main street where all the shops and pubs were located and could walk to everything. Besides there were shops and restaurants right outside our door.
Attending to parking our car, arranging a bus tour to the Ring of Kerry and providing attention to all our needs gave us a visit that will be a happy memory for a long time.
We encourage everyone to consider this very wonderful place.
Wonderful welcome and homely atmosphere

Six of us (three couples) enjoyed a wonderful five nights at the Arbutus in September and would happily use it again as our base for any holiday in that area - indeed the Arbutus would be one reason for returning to get to know the Killarney area better.
The staff were all friendly, welcoming and helpful and the service was always professional, the food exellent and the rooms comfortable and clean.
Well done, all at the Arbutus. You are part of our happy memories of our brilliant holiday in Ireland. Hopefully we'll be back!

We had just finished playing waterville golf links in 35 mph winds and rain and drove to Killarney that saturday afternoon to check in at the Arbutus hotel. We found the staff was just excellent in their service and attitude. The recetionist tried at length to find dinner reservations for the 6 of us, and did finally, and it was great. Next mornining we had an early flight and the hotel fixed us breakfast half hour before normal 7:30 opening. It's an older hotel, but clean and comfortable with new bathrooms, and a good bar. The location is excellent. Great way to end our wonderful golf trip. (Tralee Golf Club is close, too.)

Our stay was brilliant. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms were very spacious, clean and comfortable. Food was great. Location is excellent, what more can I say....... 10/10, thank you.
Had a Wonderful Time

Just returned from a 10-day stay at the Arbutus Hotel in Killarney to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. From the day we arrived the staff couldn't have been nicer and went out of their way to be welcoming, gracious, and warm. We even received an anniversary card and a box of chocolates from the Buckley family and staff! Morning breakfasts were delicious and beautifully prepared and, Betty, Anna, and the rest of the staff truly made breakfast the best meal of the day. We also had dinner several times in the Arbutus' beautiful dining room and enjoyed each time very much. All in all, our stay was terrific and just what we'd hoped it would be -- we'd recommend the Arbutus to anyone looking to relax in a lovely hotel with professional, helpful staff who make the guests their main priority.
Special Arbutus

We stayed for 2 nights in September. I had read the good reviews and was certainly not disappointed. The room was huge with a sitting area (including a chaise lounge), and large bathroom which had obviously recently been renovated. The breakfasts were very good and produce obviously fresh. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I just wish more hotels were as good as the Arbutus.
Average Hotel

Stayed at the Arbutus for two nights recently in Killarney. The weekend staff was not knowledgeable about the main attractions in town or their hours of operation.
The room was disappointing and dimly lit. Their was no iron in the room as expected. The staff delivered a board with a worn and torn cover that exposed the pressed board. The iron left water spots all over my clothing.
The car park was located about a half block away and it was disc/pay parking from 9am to 6pm. Naturally there was no clock in the room and the only outlet in the bathroom was for electric shavers. Using the curling iron in the room was difficult because of the poor lighting.
The shower water temperature fluctuated as well while in use.
The location of the hotel though was excellent for visiting Killarney.

My mother & I just returned from the trip of a lifetime! Our stay at the Arbutus was perfect. We were within walking distance of most everything we wanted to do. And if we needed to travel any distance, the jaunting carts were readily available. The atmosphere at the Arbutus was inviting & both casual & formal at the same time. We looked forward to breakfast each morning. (Thank you, Betty!) The service was friendly & helpful. Ah, the most wonderful week ever!
A hidden gem

Our stay at the Arbutus was an absolute pleasure. I have been there one other time and the hospitality was just as unbeilable as the last stay. Rooms are very comfortable and clean, location is just perfect for your night stay in Killarney, or your base for a trip to visit all of Ireland on day trips. What make the Arbutus really special though is the staff, Betty, Ina, and Dennis, will go the extra mile to make everyones stay the most special and comfotable you can imagine. I expecially love the omlettes that the crew cooked up for us each morning, just cant say enough.
