Charming Small Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member blc07

A royal welcome at the Killarney Royal! We arrived late afternoon in Killarney after another long day of touring without a reservation. Had planned to stay at a B&B but they were all booked out. This small hotel was like a dream.Warm, friendly & helpful staff, reasonable rates & a fantastic room! The linen was crisp, the marble bathroom glistened & the ambience in the lounge & bar made us feel at home .The hotel is in the heart of the town a short stroll to the lively action of the pubs with their typical irish music. We will long remember this beautiful town and the Killarney Royal Hotel. Well Done!

We'll be back !

We stayed at the Killarney Royal Hotel In October 07. Four adults on our annual weekend away. The Hotel is fab. Located at the end of the high street so you don't get the noise but you do get the convenience. The town is lovely, quaint and the shops were open until late and on Sundays....plenty of shopping. The hotel itself was very clean, had massive rooms with a large bathroom (double sinks etc) bath robe supplied etc., but all of these good points pale into insignificance compared to the staff. The staff could not do enough for you, so helpful, so friendly, so happy to help and eager to please. The staff were happy to recommend where the best places were to travel to or go for a swift half or even to eat however the food in the hotel restaurant would take some beating. If you stay there make sure you ask for Evelyn at breakfast she will see you right especially if you want a hearty Irish breakfast and Antoinette was the nicest member of staff you could ever wish to meet, so helpful. We all had a brilliant time and this place is our firm favourite.

a quaint little hotel

by TripAdvisor Member jocork

rooms are very big, decor a bit old fashioned but nice, bathroom was very nice, his n hers sinks, shower/bath , 2 bath robes, slippers and heated towels
we stayed in room 303 if you are a light sleeper avoid this room as its just next to the lift shaft and you can hear the lift going up and down, also there is a large window opening out to a roof which would be dangerous if children were staying in this room
oh the golf ball for the little putting practice set and the remote control were missing from this room too and reception couldnt replace them when requested
there is no parking but i did see a car park across the road in the outlet centre but i dont know how much the charge was for this
but over all our stay was pleasent location is great, staff were friendly ,food in the bar was really really nice, missed breakfast though (couldnt get our heads off the pillow) would i go back again....only if the room rates got cheaper as you can find alternatives for way less

What an AMAZING hotel!!! Lovely staff!

by TripAdvisor Member bevfitz

Although I have used TripAdvisor numerous time to help with making hotel reservations, I have never written a review following a hotel stay. In this case, however, I feel absolutely compelled to express how delightful our stay was at the Killarney Royal. The hotel is lovely and the accommodations were just perfect (we were traveling with our 19 year old daughter and the spacious room had a king bed for us and a separate twin bed, not a roll-away, for her). The bathroom was large (two sinks) with plenty of amenities. But the most amazing thing about this hotel is the magnificent staff. From the moment we arrived until the second we left they could not have done more for us, and always with a beautiful smile. Any request was treated as a pleasure to accommodate us, and everyone went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. The included Irish breakfast is one of the best we've ever had, and the servers made you feel like you were visiting them in their own home. Truly this is the friendliest and most accommodating hotel we have ever visited and I dearly hope to be able to return someday.

Our best Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member hol07

We stayed at The Killarney Royal in August, and we really enjoyed the entire experience in Killarney. We were only at the start of our trip and it was when we moved on that we really started to miss the Royal. It was by far the best and stayed in over our two weeks in ireland.

It was the staff that made this place, most seem to be there for a long time, and nothing was too much trouble.

Breakfast was fantastic and the large spacious rooms were great.

We are planning a full week in Killarney next time as there is so much to do. You need not ask we are returning to the Royal.

Superb and Friendly Hotel with an Excellent Restaurant.

by TripAdvisor Member BobandLindaB

My wife and I and another couple who are close friends stayed at the Royal last week. We live in Wisconsin, and this was our first trip to Ireland. We were extremely pleased with our 3-day stay at the hotel. The rooms were spacious and airy, the beds are large and comfortable, and the marble bathrooms were luxurious. I was told by a staff member that the hotel previously had 49 rooms, but during a refurbishment the remaining 29 rooms were almost doubled in size. The rooms compared favorably with the 5-Star hotel we stayed at in Dublin.

The restaurant is excellent - you would be hard-pressed to find better food in the city. The full Irish breakfast is great, and our evening dinners were just superb. The rack of lamb is highly recommended!

Everyone at the hotel was very friendly, courteous and helpful. For example, my wife had misplaced her reading glasses while we were on our trip, and I assumed they would never be found. However, 2 days after we returned to the States, one of the hotel staff called at our home to say that the glasses had been located and were already sent off to us in the mail!

We all agreed that Killarney and The Royal was our favorite part of the holiday. We will be back!

Wonderful midweek break

by TripAdvisor Member PatO4

We had a lovely break in this beautiful hotel. Excellent and courteous staff, spacious and very comfortable rooms and wonderful food made this a very enjoyable break for my wife and I. Although the hotel was situated in the centre, the area was very quiet at night. We look forward to going back and would highly recommend it.

A gem in The Kingdom

by TripAdvisor Member jokerDublin

Stayed four nights last week in the Killarney Royal, It was about ten years since I went near Killarney or kerry for holiday's. But there were some great deals online and decided to go for a few days down in the Kingdom!. We picked the royal as friends had stayed over Easter and really enjoyed the Hotel.

It's always hard when it's a recommadation as It might not suit, not in this case as we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is located just a few minutes from the train station and right in the town centre. Our room was large, clean and all modern facilaties, flat screen tvs and bathrobes to relax in. I must say had Killarney has plenty to offer, you could spend two weeks walking alone in Muckross, The National park. Weather was ok one really bad day , otherwise ok.

We eat in Chapter 40 one night, it was one of the nicest meals, I have had on a long time, having said that the Hotel Bar food was fantasic and good value.

All in all Killarney left us with a great impression, and the best of all was the Staff at the Royal. A great crew with the customer made feel as easy.

If you are coming to Killarney and want a nice small town centre pleace, look no further.

Excellent Restaurant

by TripAdvisor Member TravellingMick

We had lunch in the Restaurant there in June 2008. The food was excellent - very well presented in a fine dining setting and reasonably priced. Really impressed.
