More about Killarney Towers Hotel

Where to find accomodation

by orlikins about B&Bs, hotels

If you go down the Muckross rd in Killarney, it is lined with B+Bs and hotels, so you are bound to find something there. The top hotels in Killarney are Killarney Towers (College st), Gleneagles and of course, the Holiday Inn.

Not for Squares

by SabrinaSummerville about Kube

Kube, the bar in the basement of the Killarney Towers Hotel, seems to be "the place" to go at the moment if you're young or young at heart.

It's a type of bar cum nightclub where the music throbs loudly into the early hours and the place is far too packed for dancing.

That saying, you can quickly suss out the crowd and it's not too big or two crowded so you won't miss anyone.

The lines of decor are very clean and American - lots of cream and creamy white spaces, big leather chairs, and plasma tv's that show sexy music videos that are not necessarily at all related to whatever music happens to be pouring from the speakers.

You can get to the bar and you can get to the bathroom without a long queue. That, coupled with the fact that you're likely to meet anyone you wish to meet here, makes it a great place for a night out in Killarney. There are seats and tables both inside and out and, as with most Irish bars these days, there's as much happening outside as in.

If you're looking for romantic and quiet, this is not for you! The look here is smart casual, and even smarter for ladies.

Help please!

by samantha2004

I'm going to Ireland and would like to stay in Killarney at the end of August. I've been looking at the following hotels on the web: Caslerosse, Killarney Towers, Killarney Ryan and the Gleneagle. Can anyone tell me anything about these hotels? Also I've gotten so many different rates for the hotels from different websites. I've heard so much about the jaunting cars. Are they expensive? Thanks everyone for your help!

Hi Samantha,

Not sure how much you are willing to spend but staying in a bed and breakfast is a cheaper option. There are loads of them in Killarney. The Quality is usually the same as hotels.

You'll love Killarney. Beautiful scenery there

If you can get in, try the Ross Castle Lodge B&B in Killarney - better than any hotel. Comparable to most 5* and the warmth of Rosaleen and Denis thrown in.

The jaunting cars are fun. Be sure though to interview the drivers and beware of the "bait and switch" part of the fun is getting some older fella full of the wit and humor and tall tales - the younger fellows just drive and wait while you visit the various areas but you miss a lot of the fun. They are a bit on the expensive side I think we paid around 20 euros 2 years ago but it was fun and we'll be doing it again this year with our son who is joining us there. Do take it around Muckross House.

You can also take the jaunting car through the Gap of Dunloe and connect with a boat to take you back to Killarney - this can all be arranged by your hostess of if you insist staying at a hotel by the Concierge.

Try Buckley's Pub in the evenings for great music and fun with the locals. The tourists will be down at Danny Manns.

Travel Tips for Killarney

Killarney and the Ring of Kerry trip

by Bilimari

I've been to Killarney twice so far, once with my childhood friend, and once with my son and 3 of his friends (4 boys!!!).

I've been to good restaurants, pubs and clubs in town, but just cannot remember the names, and didn't even think of taking photos. lol

I'll write down everything, and take lots of photos next time in there, I promise! : )

"Ring of Kerry drive"

Unfortunately, it was raining on and off all day, and couldn't see much of the area especially near the water.

Someone told me that there was "Leprechaun crossing" sign on the road, but couldn't find it. :(

A very clever sheep dog in action.
He can count!!!
