Neptunes Hostel

I stayed in the Neptunes Hostel with 9 other people on March 3rd until we checked out on March 5, 2005.
There were only a couple of other people in the hostel and I had an 8 person room for myself and my friend Andy while the 8 girls of our group stayed in another 8 person room.
The rooms are basic but clean with a partial room divider in the middle of the room.
The bathrooms are gender separate and both have 2 showers and 2 sinks. The showers are small but the water pressure is strong.
There is a tv room with local channels and you can ask the front desk to play VHS movies for you to watch.
Also in the tv room there are a few bookshelves and various other reading material for your enjoyment.
There is a separate telephone room as well with one phone for local type calls and one for international calls.
There is an internet terminal available for free but it was broken when I was there.
The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, an oven and four gas burners and there is a refridgerator for leftovers, just be sure to label what's yours.
The front desk staff is fairly helpful and friendly and will be happy to give you a map of the town or give you directions to the town information office.
The hostel is located in the center of the town and only about 100-200meters from the town cathedral.

Above a pub!

Neptunes is meant to be a good hostel but they were full so we ended up in 'The Stretford End' pub next door. They have rooms above it for 60 euro. Rooms are ensuite, clean and you get a good big fry up in the morning!

Neptunes Hostel

Neptunes is a good, well equiped and clean hostel. Prices are competitive and they're bang in the middle of the town.

In June, July, or August book...

In June, July, or August book your Killarney B&B in advance!!! This is a major tourist destination and even though there are lots of B&Bs, hotels, hostels, they book up early!! Great places to stay include Neptune's town hostel off New Street (doubles room IR18 punt per person per night), or Kathleens Country House B&B on Tralee Road for IR30 punt per person per night.

A: "One-hour bus ride would probably be easiest as I don't think there is a train. Check http://www.buseireann.ie/pdf/1214926849-279k.pdf"
