Ireland's best hostel (IMHO)
I stayed here for three nights in early-April 2006 and had a blast. Sugan is a small hostel in an old house, right in central Killarney near the bus station. I walked in without a reservation and Dave was very helpful and friendly in getting me set up and explaining what to see and do around Killarney and the Ring of Kerry. The main floor was very cozy, with wooden walls, a fireplace, and a small group of people staying in the hostel--all made for a very friendly atmosphere. The upstairs shared bedrooms were very nice, as were the bathrooms. A full kitchen downstairs.
Unique Quality: -You can rent bikes. Dave also explained all the best music venues in town and how to best structure our sightseeing. A short walk from all the major sites in town and a short bikeride to Killarney National Park.

Killarney's Personal Hostel
The Sugan is different from most other hostels. It's really personal and the staff, particuarly Dave was exteremly helpful. He gave us a map and pointed out the cheapest and best places to go. He also booked our Ring of Kerry Tour and had the tour pick us up directly in front of the hostel.
It's really small, but there is always a fire going and it makes for a very relaxed atmosphere. You'll get to talk to all the other guests from different countries who are staying there.
Breakfast isn't included in the price, but there are pleny of choices nearby.
Unique Quality: The location was great, not far from the bus and train station, close to Killarney National Park, and right in the town center of Killarney.
