Appalling State of Disrepair

The Ashe Townhouse is advertised as a guesthouse, yet it falls exceedingly short of the standards one would expect for this type of accomodation and price range. For one thing, the proprietor does not live on the grounds, and anytime I was in need of speaking to or being assisted by the receptionist, I waited anywhere from 15-60+ minutes for a response; it is clear due to their lack of availability that the individuals who manage this establishment do not care about the needs of their customers. On top of help/assistance being readily accessible by the people who supposedly run the place, the building is not only dark and dingy, but it smells as if it is infested with mold. The foundation of the building seems to be faulty as the stairwells are uneven, and whenever anyone climbs the staircases, it feels as though the building is ready to cave in entirely. The Townhouse is also incredibly drafty and when wind passes through the corridors the entire floors of the buildings shake! When I arrived at the Townhouse, I was asked to pay for the room up front, only to be refused a refund several minutes later after being confronted by the horrible state of disrepair in which the rooms appear. Though I was not refunded my money from the proprietor (who willingly admitted to me that she'd been SPYING ON ME ALL MORNING via hidden cameras in the building from a remote location!!!), I was allowed to upgrade rooms, though both rooms that I observed on the Townhouse grounds had wallpaper peeling off the walls and ceilings, moldy/mildew-infested bathrooms and window borders, NO HOT WATER for the showers save for at very random times of the day, torn or burnt blankets and bed coverings, non-working television remotes, dirty carpets and sheets, and intolerably cold rooms with unworking heaters. Not only that, but the rooms pose a safety hazard seeing as the archaic locks used to secure the doors must be locked from both the INSIDE and OUTSIDE of the room (in the event of a fire, one wouldn't have the time to fumble around with the locking and unlocking of doors to enter and exit the room!). I would thus tell anyone looking to spend a few nights in Tralee to AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!!!! There are two hotels across the street from the Townhouse which offer MUCH CLEANER, more favorable accomodations for just a 10 Euro-per-night difference. This place is a nightmare. If you have any sense whatsoever, STAY AWAY. It's not worth saving a few measly Euro.

Unique Quality: None.
