ATLAS HOUSE: Modern and clean

We booked bed in Atlas House hostel, which was more than a youth hostel but less than a hotel, but as cheap as a hostel and the price included the breakfast, too. We slept in the dormitory of six, but the lady promised it for the two of us. We were in the kitchen at 8.00 sharp to have the breakfast, because we hadn't learnt by then that in Ireland nothing happens sharp! There were cereals and toast on the table and we took butter, marmalade and juice from the fridge and helped ourselves. We had almost finished our breakfast before the young woman came to prepare it! We are always early birds and you mustn't forget the time difference of two hours between Ireland and Finland. So 8.00 is 10.00 to us and we never sleep that late!

Upstairs of a pub

The first time we stayed in Tralee we had a room above a pub. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of it. Anyway I want to tell you a little story about our stay there. The room was quite dirty and as you can imagine we could hear the noise as long as the pub was open, which wasn't very late at all. We had our own key for which we paid a deposit of five Irish pounds and would get our money back when we returned the key. In the morning we got up early as usual and wanted to catch a train at 9.00 or something like that. When we were leaving we realised that the pub was closed and there was no way that we could leave the key and get our money back! The pub would only open at 11.00. There was nothing we could do so we left for the train with the key as at that moment we were very pissed off, not for the five pounds but because they had not told us that there wouldn't be anybody in the morning. Later we calmed down and decided to post the key to them and enclosed sase. We didn't expect to see our money ever but about two months later I received a letter from the pub with the five pound note and the sase which we had enclosed! As you can imagine it made us feel really great! There are honest people left in this world!

St. Jude's Bed & Breakfast: When booking your room

The place was beautiful and comfortable, and hostess Peggy O'Sullivan was friendly and welcoming.

The only advice I give for booking a room anywhere is: Get it in writing that you will have your own private bathroom!!!!!

St. Jude's Bed & Breakfast: Friendly and Eager to Please

Abbie and I stayed four nights here. The room was beautiful, with two full beds, and a ton of blankets on each!
The room was a little crowded, but we weren't in there enough that it was a problem. Also, you could go down to the living area if you felt a little claustrophobic.
We had a TV in our room, which was great at times with Abbie, but the programming is definitely different that we get in the USA.

Peggy O'Sullivan, the owner, was most gracious and accomodating. The breakfast spreads were truly awesome. It was hard to tell her that we really just don't usually eat like that at home! I think a vegetarian would have a hard time with an Irish breakfast...

Finnegans

Finnegans hostel right in the centre of town is fine, a double room is 40 euro. It does the job! no breakfast though but who needs it when youve got Dunnes bacon sandwiches!

My Sister's House! :): what are sisters for?

My sister went to college in Tralee for 3 years so whenever i went to Tralee, I naturally stayed with her in exchange for bringing some of Mum's home cooking! :)

Just a few mins walk from the town center :)
