We are traveling to Ireland in May and will be taking the Rail from city to city. We want to stay in Kilkenny and go to Waterford City for the day. Is there a tour or some other way to get there other than by Rail?
Also, any suggestions on places to stay and eat?

The 13th Century Cathedral was closed for maintenace when we visited (Sept 2004), but you can still walk through th grounds and climb the round tower. The round tower is more inspiring for the climb itself than the views of Kilkenny at the summit. A number of round towers can be seen in Ireland but not all of them can be entered and climbed. A number of steep wooden ladders take you up to the top of the 100ft tower.
The Kilkenny Rhythm and Roots Festival takes place over the first weekend in May every year. It features a mixture of Irish, American, Canadian and European acts covering Folk, Americana, Bluegrass music. There's over 80 shows in various venues throughout the city, with more than half of them free.
Nowlan Park is the home of Kilkenny's GAA teams. In recent years it has hosted two big concerts - Paul Simon in 2002 and Bob Dylan the previous summer. After living in Kilkenny for 18 years, and never having the chance to see anything like this, it was just my luck that I was in New York for the Dylan gig.
Greenshill is a residential road just on the outskirts of town. I can't even remember why i took this photo - it's on my way home and there's not much to see - in the photo you can make out the town in the distance.
Langton's is probably the best known nightclub in Kilkenny. I've been here far too many times and whenever we go out in Kilkenny we always end up in here. On Saturday nights or over the Christmas holidays it gets especially busy. It's run by local man Eamonn Langton who owns many other pubs and nightclubs in the city.
