Tripadvisor was right - Rates 5

When I read all the fabulous reports on Tripadvisor I thought nowhere could be this good. Guess what - It is. I paid 125 Euro which included breakfast, free parking and internet and a great modern room with all the bells and whistles - like plasma screen, safe, good temperature control a/c, quality bedding and views of the river.
Add to this an early bird special in the dining room at 25 Euro per person for three courses, and this is hard to beat, on a world standard.
The staff couldn't be more welcoming and happy to assist with any reasonable request.
This hotel cannot stay a secret for too much longer, as the good news spreads quickly. G
This is a well run, caring hotel that deserves your support.
Great design, great price

This hotel has been getting very good reviews on Tripadvisor-this is how I discovered it when I was looking for a hotel for a one night stay in Limerick.
The initial impressions were very attractive-a large lobby -very well
planned with a most attractive stairway. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautifully designed with a modern flair-a very imaginative use of lighting, best I have seen in fact anywhere!
The bathroom is lovely ,wih nice toileteries etc.
There is an unobtrusive wall-mounted plama screen TV,and the overall colour scheme is just right. What else is very good? The prices-95 euro for the room for 2!

We took the advice of the Tripadvisor reviews and were not dissappointed. The hotel was excellent. The hotel and rooms are very spacious & very clean. The staff were friendly and always helpful. I would recommend the hotel to anyone!

My wife and I have just spent a fabulous week at the Absolute Hotel - Everything about the hotel was 1st Class, friendly staff, good food, excellent rooms looking over the River Abbey.
If your looking for a place to stay at a reasonable price then
you should look no further than the "Absolute" fabulous hotel.

Staff very helpful and friendly. Hotel restaurant and bar were both lovely.
On arriving we were asked if we'd like to upgrade to a suite, for an additional €30, (our original room would have been €126.) In hindsight we wish we had not bothered as all we got extra was a seated area and a large bath. I imagine that the standard rooms are every bit as nice, without the additional cost! Hotel was busy and had a nice atmosphere in the restaurant and bar. Would be suitable for groups and couples. It is close to the city centre and shopping area!
Hotel Gymnasium was on the small side and the only other negative would be that there was no complimentary bottled water in the room which would normally be customary in a three / four star hotel. There is however vending machines available on all floors of the hotel.
Good spot

Lovely hotel on the inside. Very nice rooms. Bar staff terrible. Restaurant staff excellent but food over priced for quality served.
Would go back but would eat out next time. Breakfast was fine though.
Top Spot!

Put Simply the hotel is Fantastic
1- Good Staff
2- Good breakfast
3- Fantastic bedrooms
among other things are FREE car parking, efficient check in and it is the only hotel i have ever been in that was not too warm!
Enough said!
Stay HERE!!!!
Very Cool Hotel!

Ultramodern smart rooms with flat panel tvs and all sorts of lighting options. Sleek Scandanavian look. Very comfortable, great view. Breakfast was not very good, though. Would recommend eating elsewhere.

Writing this from hotel.Stayed as a result of comments posted on trip advisor and it lives up to all the great comments already posted here.Room standard and facilities are excellent. Staff are all extremly helpfull, curtious and efficent. This makes a pleasent change for an Irish hotel as standards vary so much. Will recommend this hotel to all my friends and colleagues, and I have already promissed my wife a weekend here! Cant really say much more than that. Obviously I have not yet experienced breakfeast yet, but its not something I would ever rate a hotel on. For me room quality, cleanliness, staff and a decent shower are my priorities and The Absolute exceeds in all.
Nothing worse than a cold Fry!

Lovely modern hotel with excellent staff and deserving of all the praise given by previous reviewers.
However, here are a few negatives which management could surely improve upon;-
Small bath room towels are not much use to a 6 foot tall Irishman!
Digital tv clock only works when tv is switched on. Not much use when you awake in the middle of the night.
"Hot" breakfast served on stone cold plate which, in addition to small flame beneath containers having gone out, meant that it was cold, not even luke warm. Second morning not much better but both eggs and bacon ran out and were very slowly replaced. Not much forward planning here.
No room in car park so had to park in the street.
Others appear to have had a more positive experience so perhaps we just choose an exceptionally busy weekend.

Children's entertainment, fun things for kids?
by banana70
Hello, I will be visiting Limerick in April for a few days with my 2 daughters aged 8 and 4. Can anyone recommend attractions, places etc that they might find enjoyable? Where do the locals take their kids for fun? Any ideas welcome, even down to the good play areas, swimming pool etc, and anything to do with animals! Thanks so much for your time, I appreciate it!

Here's a link to the family friendly attractions in Limerick on the official Limerick Tourism website :

The 50m pool is without a doubt the best swimming pool in limerick, and it has public hours right through the week. I think the most child-friendly hours are at the weekend. Here's a link for more info:

Unfortunately, there's no swimming pools with flumes and the like here.

The pool is great, I always go there anytime I'm in Limerick.
But there are some great walks around UL too.
How about King John's Castle? Or Curraghchase - tire 'em out with long walks and running around ;)
Limerick doesn't have a zoo or anything like that, so I can't think of anything animal-related unless they want to look at the swans on the river Shannon :)

Buttercup farm in County Limerick is a great spot for kids. It doesn't open till the Easter weekend though.
