SCENIC VIEWS

My stay was in June 2007. Two nice nights on Steamboat Quay. Extremely scenic views behind the Clarion ( River Shannon, a nice scrap metal recycler and the harbor.) My first and last views of Ireland were here. Absolutely unforgettable!

Unique Quality: all good, except food.

Limerick's Most Unique Hotel

Hi!
Had a brilliant girls weekend in the Clarion in Limerick!Flew into Shannon which is only 20mins away from the hotel. The hotel is an experience itself - right beside the river with nice views onto river and city. Our bedrooms had floor to ceiling windows and were very clean, spacious and modern - the views were truely the highlight (we were on the 13th floor!!!).
Also got to use the pool and jacuzzi, from where we could see onto the river!!!!Had an excellent dinner in the restaurant for a very affordable price.
The hotel is also only 5 mins away from the city centre with its shops and bars/nightclubs - it's all about location, location, location ...
I would highly recommend the Clarion as we had a fantastic time there! The price was quite affordable for a 4 star hotel ... and being honest, I would give it 5 stars!

Unique Quality: - Great value for money !
- Location, location, location
- Amazing views !
- Helpful and friendly staff
- Swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna

Limerick's best central stop

Limerick's best central located hotel if you can afford it, it is expensive but for it's location and quality it's worth it for a shorts stay, if sating longer then go for one of the cheaper options.

Limerick's Newest Hotel

Clarion Hotel,

Limerick's newest 4 star hotel with fantastic views overlooking the river Shannon. Even though i am a resident of the city i stayed in the hotel in February 2004 and had a fantastic time.
The food is fantastic and the staff are both warm and friendly.
Keep a look out for some great special offers at this hotel.
This is the tallest hotel in Ireland.

Disappointment

by A TripAdvisor Member

Stayed in this hotel with my partner for one night and felt it was a bit of a let down. The room was on the 8th floor, which afforded good views over the river. However, the room had a smokey smell, it had some paint scraped off the walls and the lock on the window was also broken! We also found the room quite cold. The rooms are not very sound proof, as we were woken up in the middle of the night, by neighbouring guests. The room we stayed in was classed as a 'deluxe' room, however we have stayed in the nearby Radisson in a standard room and were happier with it.
I feel that this hotel is not living up to it's potential, with the general problem being poor upkeep.

not impressed

by TripAdvisor Member char

have just returned from a weekend at the clarion, and to be honest i wasn't very impressed. while most staff at reception were very friendly, i think it took three to check us in. my main concern was with the room. while it was clean, bright and modern, it was extremely cramped. for example, there was two chairs just pushed up beside the bed, which i kept bumping into. there was very little room to move. it was definately one of the smallest hotel rooms i have stayed in. it reminded me more of the standard you would expect in european hotels.however, i think we just got a raw deal, as when i walked past the other 'standard rooms' on our floor they were a little bigger. i think it has a lot to do with where you are positioned. for example, we had room at the corner of the deluxe rooms on the 10th floor, so i think a couple of rooms at this end are that bit smaller.

the air conditioning also proved very difficult to use, and the windows on the top floors do not open, either that or the handle had fallen off, and someone forgot to replace it!

breakfast was ok, but it's all self-service, and a little disorganised. there never seemed to be anyone around, and everything was in a bit of a mess. however, we had dinner in the restaurant in the evening and this was fab. great service, great food, and a little more organised. however, i feel compelled to point out that when we checked out i noticed a E2 charge on our hotel bill for a little scoop of ice-cream, that i had requested to go with my dessert the previous evening!!!!don't get me wrong, it wasn't the money, i just found this a little tacky for a '4* hotel'.

i agree with other reviews, in that this hotel just doesn't live up to its potential. while the clarion is a relatively new hotel, it's already beginning to show wear and tear. i think i'd opt for the castletroy or the newly renovated greenhills(heard good reports from friends) if i were to return for a weekend in limerick again. definately one of the most disappointing 4* hotels i have stayed in.

disappointed

Stayed two nights - room very small with a view of a steel yard! Asked to be moved but were told no other rooms available, which I did not believe. Rooms very hot, windows could not be opened and air conditioning very noisy. Swimming pool closed at 7pm on Saturday night. Food good but dining room floor very very dirty. I would not stay here again. Its a nice business hotel but would not rate it as 4 star.

Very Enjoyable stay at the Clarion Limerick

by A TripAdvisor Member

Myself and my husband have just returned from a weekend break at the Clarion Limerick. We had a lovley weekend. We went there as part of the shannon showcase, supervalue get away hotel breaks. Our room was lovely, we were on the 6th floor with an amazing view over the river shannon which was home to many swans and was also used by the limerick rowing club. The decor of the hotel is very contemporary. The lesuire facilites was only ok. The swimming pool was very small, if you are a keen swimmer this is not the lesuire centre to visit. "Big Bath" comes to mind. But apart from that the jacuzzi and sauna and steam room were adequate and clean.

The meal we had in the Synergy restaurant was fabulous as was the breakfast on both mornings, possibly the best brekkie we have had in an irish hotel.

In all we had a most enjoyable stay at the Clarion and would recommend it highly.
