"The Stay"
I've been through Dundalk quite a few times and stayed in a hotel there many years ago when I attended a horse race meeting.The hotel I intended staying in seemed to be shut when I arrived(couldn't get in anyway) so I went looking for somewhere else to rest my weary head.I rarely book accommodation in advance and have only come a cropper a couple of times.The place I found(see my tip)was fine.
There are some good pubs in Dundalk.I used Dundalk as a base from which to travel to some of the lovely places around this area.Get to Carlingford,theres a nice castle and the locals are friendly.
