Clean, friendly, convenient B&B

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on March 31, 2014

We planned a tour of Ireland staying three days in 8 different places around the country. Cillcoman Lodge was our base near Westport Harbor and we used it it visit Kylemore Abbey, some national heritage areas, Achill Island, the Atlantic Coast Drive and the Connemara Loop.

The B&B appears new and was spotless. The location at the top of a hill gave great views and Mary's breakfast was perfect. She gave us directions and suggestions for restaurants and sight-seeing. She even directed us to a laundry in town for the weekly laundry ordeal. We left it there, went sight-seeing all day and returned to pick it up in the evening. Easy . . .

Unique Quality: Mary's flower border was amazing. I ran around taking photos of all her beautiful flowers. She should charge entrance to her garden. There are also two adorable donkeys in a field next door.

For us the best part was being able to walk down to Sheebeen's Pub for a meal. By the time we got back, we were tired of driving and it is a pleasant 10-minute walk with great views.

The beds were comfortable and the bathroom spotless.

Directions: In Ireland we programmed our GPS to find our B&Bs. It worked. Here is Cillcoman.
