More about Mill Times Hotel
Had a two night stay here, hotel is very central for touring the area and is right in the centre of town so it can get a bit noisy outside at times. Room was very clean and good size. Breakfast was the usual help yourself items plus full Irish breakfast, all very good. We also ate here both nights, once in restaurant and once in bar, again both very good. There are numerous eating places in town if you need them though. Staff throughout the hotel were all very helpful and efficient. The hotel also has an underground car park which was useful, although there is also a car park further down the road. The town centre is quite a way from the quayside area and we thought it was the best area to be staying, the quay area seemed a bit remote. All in all we had a very good stay and I can't think of anything to complain about!
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Car park a joke (I have a tiny car!) and lighting in room very poor - just two 25 watt bulbs and no standard lamp over the table area, so could not read or use a laptop in the room. Hairdryer located in a drawer of unit, but plugged out. Cable was so short I had to physically move the unit in order to plug it in! Shower curtain in bathroom stank and assailed my nostrils every time I opened the door. Otherwise bedroom clean and comfortable. Corridors were very poorly lit as well and while we all welcome a bit of energy saving, I think they are taking it to an extreme level in this hotel.
Breakfast buffet was very limited and the menu dated, couldn't provide a basic herbal tea even. Awful pub type sing-a-long music played at full volume didn't do anything to aid the digestion first thing in the morning...
A great small hotel
We had a three night break (including one dinner) at this hotel. Because it was my husband's 75th birthday we were given a room up-grade. At dinner we were given a glass of champagne each and "one for everyone in the audience" which was lovely and everyone wished him Happy Birthday.
We found the staff to be exceptional. We have travelled all over Europe and US and we thought the management and staff at this hotel were the most genuinely friendly and helpful that we have ever found.
One night we had dinner at the Sheebin - a thatched pub on the coast road. It was fantastic and we went back there next day for a small lunch. Next night we went to The Quay Cottage and were VERY disappointed and would not recommend it.
Parking is tight in the underground car park at the hotel but there is a large car park across the road from the hotel.
Room was freezing cold and no extra blankets were available. A party in a room on our floor kept everyone awake until after 6am in the morning. There was no reply from reception when we tried to complain - the phone seemed to be off the hook. Eventually on calling the hotel from a mobile phone a night porter was contacted and tried to calm the situation. When we complained at checkout the staff were receptive but said there was nothing they could do - they also suggested that it was our problem that we were cold as they had never had that complaint before. The room itself was ok but every sound from outside could be clearly heard. Room service dishes from 7pm on Saturday evening were still in the hallway at 10.30am the next morning. Also the car park is tiny, dangerous to access and almost impossible to get into/out of, it was full with just 5 cars in it. The quality of the accommodation was extremely disappointing given how expensive the room was.
Great Location - Excellent Staff
We were a group of 18 girls on a hen party and found this hotel ideal for our trip. The staff were extremely welcoming of our group and very helpful - especially Geraldine at reception. We did have to pay a €300 deposit on arrival but this is understandable with large groups (full amount was refunded on departure). The hotel is very central and we were able to walk everywhere - so no need for taxis! The rooms were quite small and basic but comfortable. Ideal location for exploring Westport town, and also perfect if you're a group looking for a weekend away!
Fabulous Service, Perfect Location - Westport Inn
Just had a wonderful weekend in the Westport Inn. The service we received was second to none - the staff simply couldn't do enough to please us. I had stayed here previously and loved it for its location and always found the staff pleasant. Returning with a large group of people (18) was hoping it was as good as remembered as I knew it had changed hands. I have to say it was far better. The hotel has been renovated and is really nicely done with a much more modern feel about it. The bedrooms are not elaborate but are clean and very comfortable. The location is perfect being bang in the middle of the town. We had an inclusive meal with our weekend and were not expecting it to be anything remarkable .... how wrong were we?! There was a wonderful choice on the menu, oysters even featured! (so often hotels seem to think set menus don't require any thought so long as there is chicken and beef on it!!!) Great effort was put into the presentation of the food and all our meals were cooked perfectly bar one steak which was overdone (1 out of 18 is not bad!!) - this situation was handled with complete efficiency - a new steak was brought with speed along with fresh dishes of all the accompanying veg, sauces etc (even though there was plenty still on the table) Without prompting the hotel had personalised the menus on the table for our event, which again a small but very nice detail. It is not easy to please everyone in a large group but the Westport Inn pulled it off! All in all I would highly recommend the Westport Inn and will be returning very soon indeed! Keep it up, such a pleasure to come across decent service & better still not be charged the earth for it!
Great hotel & staff
I brought a group of eleven to the hotel for a two night mid week stay. Everyone in the group had only good things to say about the hotel, just as well, i could only imagine what would have happend to me if the hotel was poor.
From the greeting at reception to the friendly staff in the dining area especially Pauline & Leeanne who put up with a lot. The food was excellent on both nights, even with all the choice in Westport, the lads in group decided to eat the second night in hotel restaurant. even at short notice they fitted us in and gave us an excellent price on the A la Carte.
The bar staff were great, even late at night. This hotel is under new managment and undergoing some changes, its why some of our group drove past it twice looking for the Milltimes hotel.
The rooms were lovely, neat & clean, we even had a problem with one room and within 30minutes, we had been given another room and the staff even moved the bags. The underground car park maybe a bit small but what would you expect in a town centre hotel and it was free.
As it was our first venture as a group, I would thouroughly recommend the hotel for a stay because if they could please the group I brought, well they could please anyone.
If i can persuade the group to climb Croagh Patrick next year, I know where we will be staying...
Loved this Hotel - Excellent Staff
This Hotel was excellent value for money. With a great location right in the centre of Westport town the Hotel itself has been newly refurbished. The rooms tastfully decorated with warm coulours and comfortable also. We ate in the hotel restaurant during our stay - the food was beautiful and again very reasonable. The staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely be staying in this hotel again.
Home from Home
The Westport Inn is a fantastic place to stay- very friendly , courteous and helpful staff and the rooms are really well layed out and spacious. The manager on duty Pauline was so helpful and generous- nothing was too much- including providing food well beyond the restaurant closing time. Its great to be able to go away , get really good value , service and food with a smile. I would definitely recommend anybody visiting Westport to book here.
Had a good weekend
Great staff, Good food, and the common areas are good..
Rooms a bit tacky as a DIY fan, I thought the temberworrk was porrly done and out of place. Bathrooms ok
