Glenvale approved town houses: Sligo B & B

by disguntled

Limited parking - we were parked in & couldn't leave until the family moved their cars. Room allocated was extremely noisy because of people standing in doorway talking loudly outside the door.
Would not recommend

35 Euro per person

Glen View B&B

by Krumel

This is one of the most welcoming B&Bs that I have stayed in. The landlady goes out of her way to make you feel at home, and although we only arrived late in the evening after 10pm she had scones and jam ready for us in the dining room, and showed us a short video about County Sligo while we were munching the scones.

The breakfast was lovely with homemade brown bread, and one of the mornings we were treated to fresh sweet pancakes with syrup in addition to our already very filling fry-up and toasts.

The house is also in a very scenic location overlooking a valley towards Benbulben, and it is only a few minutes’ drive to Sligo town.

Mardel B&B: B&B by the Sea

by sue_stone

On one night of our Ireland trip we wanted to stay in Sligo town, but had trouble booking decent accommodation, so we stayed in Strandhill instead.

Strandill is about 8 kms from the centre of Sligo, by the ocean. There is not a lot to see here, but it was a fine place to stay for the night.

There is ocean on one side and mountains on the other.

We stayed at Mardel B&B, which is on the Seafront in Strandhill.

It was a fairly basic place - not much to the rooms and no real "warm & welcome" feeling from the owner.

That said, our room did look out onto the Atlantic Ocean and our Irish Breakfast was tasty and the owner was helpful with recommendations for dinner/sights nearby.

Glenvale? B&B: Sligo B&Bs

by medievalandrea

If you're hunting for B&Bs while coming into Sligo on the N4 from the south, it's best to get one as soon as you get in. They get pricier the closer you get to town (as is the general rule).
They're also very tiny (we looked at 3), but we managed to get a really good deal out of this particular one, saying that we were students (we are!)

Very friendly hostess
