Have a visit to Glendalough. Glendalough is situated just near the old military road. Glendalough was made famous by Saint Kevin who came to the area and founded a monastery in AD 498.
The most famous of all the landmarks in the area, however, is the Round Tower which stands 33 meters above the ground. It was built almost 1000 years ago by the monks of St. Kevin's monastery. For more photos, please check out my Glendalough travelogue to the upper right.

One of the world's great gardens, Powerscourt is situated 12 miles south of Dublin in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. The garden was begun by Richard Wingfield in the 1740's and stretches out over 47 acres.
Glendalough Stone Church

After visiting the Visitor's Center and seeing the audiovisual presentation take time to walk around the area. It's amazing that any of this is still standing considering it was built in the 8th and 12th Centuries.
You will see the ancient graveyards with Celtic Crosses as burial stones.
Mount Usher Gardens...

I do find it a very romantic looking garden with rare trees, shade loving plants and shrubs growing abundantly throughout the meadows. As you stroll into the woodland, you'll see how the landscape changes and gives a very scenic view.
