I found whilst travelling around the west coast, if you leave the city or town your in you will find several bed & breakfast houses to stay in at a much lower rate. For example in Kilkee you can pay anything from 35 to 45 for one person per night sharing... a few miles outside town l got a B&B for 28. Although not the cleanest of places but good enough to put your head down for the night and head off the next morning. Theme: Bed and Breakfast

Altamont House, Westport by Coombsie Altamont house was very clean. The room was very small, the bed kind of hard. There is no TV in the room, but you can go to the lounge and watch TV if you wish. It also had the smallest shower known to man, I do believe. It was very close to town, a short walk away. That was convenient. Breakfast in the morning was adequit. All in all, it was ok. Not nearly as nice as the others that we stayed in during our week in Ireland. Altamont House is on the Town and Country Voucher System. Reception at Collis Sandes Hostel by kentishgirl This was a friendly hostel, set in a magnificent old house in the Oakwood part of town. I diddnt get much sleep here, I think it was haunted (!) but it was a superb building in a great setting at a brilliant price.
They offer dorms and privates here, and there is car parking. Its a bit of a walk into Tralee though!

Dublin - Irelands Capital city by kentishgirl I also stayed at Jury's in Galway, this hotel has a fantastic location, just a few minutes walk from all the bars and cafes!!! The hotel again in typical Jury's standards, clean and basic!
The hotel restaurant serves a brilliant Irish breakfast that you must pay for seperatly from your room every morning. The rooms are equipped with a telephone, Tea and coffee making facilities, beds (!) and an en suite.

Ready for a night on the town at Globetrotters! by kentishgirl This is a fantastic hostel, and should I ever need to stay in accommodations again in Dublin it will definatly be Globetrotters. However, the hostel is located on Lower Gardiner Street, which isnt the safest street in Dublin by any means! But there are plenty of other Hostels on this street, and Globetrotters have fab security.
Theres a bar, a breakfast room, the best shower I ever had was here! The staff are friendly and its only a few minutes walk to Busarus, Connelly station and O Connell street. The rooms are dorm style, but there is a B & B section to the hostel as well where you can rent a private room.

Bunbeg Harbour by kentishgirl This was a great B & B, as always in Ireland the Irish brekkie will set you up for the day! The rooms were well equipped with a TV, Tea and coffee making facilities, en suite.
This was a comfortable friendly guesthouse and I have no hesitation in reccommending it.

June 2004 : B &B en restaurants in Ireland (southern part) Visit Galway, Clifden Connemara, Ennistymon The Burren, Stradbally Dingle peninsula, Killarney, Wexford. B&B have been evaluated on the basis of following criteria: location (not too far from town center, noise from traffic or other sources, surroundings ), quality of room (size, cleanliness, facilities …), quality of beds, quality of breakfast, friendliness of host, other facilities of the house (private parking …) all thes factors related to price Restaurants have rated on the basis of quality of food, surroundings, friendliness and price. Mostly we asked for “early bird” dinner which costs less than à la carte Scale: 1 = totally unacceptable to 10 = perfect on all accounts Clifden Connemara B&B Ardmore House : 10/10 – comment really perfect on all accounts; we have slept in many hotels that ask the double in price and offer half the quality of this B&B Restaurant: Mitchell’s : 4/10 – is mostly recommended and yet below standard Theme: Bed and BreakfastPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: ClifdenDirections: on the lower skyroad

We drove into Carrick-On-Shannon late in the afternoon, about 5 p.m. We wandered into town and gave the B&B a call to get directions. We were given the type of directions that one gets in Ireland: "proceed down the road until you see a fence that looks like the top of a castle and then turn down the country road that is to the side of it." The road was rather narrow, but we were surprised by the house that we came to with the sign, Caldra House, out front. It was a large 19th century house that was clearly well taken care of. We were greated by some dogs and then the owner, Annabella. It was a wonderful stay. The rooms were cozy, but still spacious. It felt like a home, and as the Irish always do, they make you feel welcome.
Breakfast is served in a conservatory. Although the house has history, it is well kept and they will provide the use of their computer.

The "book" said Ardmore was a sleepy beautiful seaside resort. It was sleepy... i think the town had a population of 5. The place was clean and the breakfast average but they had a beautiful garden. by Coombsie This was our last night in Ireland. The house was beautiful, and a 5 minute drive to Durty Nelly's. Another 15 minutes to Shannon Airport. The house was very comfortable, but the outlets in the room didn't work. We were only there to sleep, so it didn't effect us very much. It was well situated, close to Bunratty Castle, and not to far from the airport. Theme: Bed and BreakfastComparison: about averageAddress: Low Road, Bunratty, Co.
