Parsons Green Caravan & Camping Park
Parsons Green Camping and Caravan is located in the small village of Clogheen, the closest village to the Knockmealdown mountains. It’s a large campsite and is very popular with families as there are numerous facilities such as a children’s playground, a games room, a tennis court and pony trekking.
It cost us 16 Euros per night to pitch a tent and we stayed here for two nights using it as a base for hikes in the Knockmealdown area. The showers are free while there are also cooking facilities available and a small café/shop. It’s at least 6km from Clogheen to the start of the hikes so it’s useful if you have your own means of transport.
The owners try to keep the area near the playground and showers for guests with caravans (who pay more) and encourage the hikers to use the farthest field in the farm. After driving out to the field along a very muddy path we decided this was too far away so we pitched our tent right beside the playground. No one seemed to mind so I suggest anyone else who stays here does the same.
