Parking is possible on the roads in front of and to either side of the hotel; we had no parking problems when we stayed in July. Port Erin is served by public transport, with the steam railway station in Station Road, and bus stops in Bridson Street. The airport is a ten minute drive away.
The public rooms consist of a sea view lounge/reception area, public bar, bistro, and large dining room, there is also a ballroom for special events.
Bedrooms are spacious and very comfortably furnished. The beds are huge and extremely comfortable. Some of the sea view rooms have corner bay windows, which provide panoramic views. In the non sea view rooms due to the layout of the building you could be overlooking an internal courtyard, which is rather dark. Tea making facilities and biscuits are provided in the rooms along with television, desk, telephone, armchairs etc. Furnishings are of good quality, with thick carpets, heavy curtains and lots of space. The bathrooms were functional, but rather old fashioned and ready for refurbishment. One bonus was that some rooms had two bathrooms!
On the top floor self catering accommodation is available for weekly stays.
Full manx breakfast is provided buffet style. Also available: fruit, yoghurt, cereal porridge and toast. Evening meals were ample, tasty and with reasonable choice. We stayed as part of a small group; I believe the choice would have been wider for individual travellers.
Service was always polite and helpful, international travellers may well have the bonus of finding someone who speaks their language, since the staff are also largely international. All rooms are spacious, with high ceilings and lots of Victorian atmosphere.
We enjoyed a lovely stay, and particularly appreciated the splendid coastal location/views, comfortable bed and good food.
