More than just another statue

We will be staying a few nights in L'Aquila first week of Oct/07...Which one of these hotels is the best? How are their locations for walking to dinner @ night?
have stayed twice at the san michele and would recommend. not familiar with hotel sole. from the san michele, an easy walk to restaurants.
We have stayed at the Hotel San Michele two times and would recommend it. Not familiar with the Hotel Sole. From the San Michele, restaurants are about two blocks away, an easy walk.
Why are you just chosing between these 2 hotels ?
San Michele - is fine - infact good - as indicated..
Hotel Sole - is new - therefore newly fitted out! It is in a Piazza quiet / near all the restaurants etc & just off the main Piazza Duomo. But you will pay !
Frederico 11 (another) is out of the way & not so good ..
Duca Delgia Abruzzo - is excellent ! Superb restaurant on the top floor (a small walk ) 5 mins from the hub bub ! But comes in much cheaper ! I know where I would (& have stayed). After our first visit we arranged to buy a place there & have stayed in a few hotels. We also know the restaurant scene - if you need any help. Ernesto. Il Drappo & Le Fiaccoli - al excellent!
You will love L'Aq - take a few walks down the side streets !
Campo Felice: one of the biggest ski resort in center and southern italy. Velino mountain group.
trees at slopes limits.
altitude: 1700-2000 m
ski season: december to april
11 lifts- lot of slopes
con's: very crowded on saturdays and sundays because close to Rome.
lot of possibilities for mountain ski. ski equipment (possible to rent)
