Hotel Ristorante Canadian: A Light at the End of a Dark Tunnel

We were desperate! We had left Sirolo in the afternoon and headed west toward a final destination of Gaeta. However, we knew wanted to stop before dark and had selected L'Aquila as that spot. We were starving, so we decided to eat and ask at the restaurant for a good place to stay at a reasonable price. We were given information and directions to another hotel. We tried three different times using different people's directions and were not successful. It was dark, it was late...we stopped at a gas station; I looked up and saw lights in the midst of all this darkness. The light was from a sign for the Hotel Ristorante Canadian.

At this point, we did not care about price; all we wanted was a firm bed, a nice shower, and to get out of the car! This was a large hotel, and the cost was 75 Euro, which was much more than we wanted to pay. But, we said yes.

It certainly has excellent access to the A 24 Roma/L'Aquila highway, which was what we wanted. The rooms are quite spacious and furnished with private bath, air conditioning, telephone, radio, roomservice, satellite TV, balcony and outdoor and indoor parking.
Breakfast came with the room, an added plus.

Unique Quality:

The manger, Tony, was such a help with directions and suggestions. He was the one who made calls for us about hotels in Ostri the night before we left from the Rome airport. He told us to drive to Rome Airport, turn in our rental car, and catch a shuttle bus to one of the hotels in Ostri. Then, the next morning, take the shuttle back to the airport for our flight.

It was a great bathroom with a terrific shower; the bed was firm and perfect for much-needed sleep. The breakfast was not terrific, especially the coffee. The hotel makes it possible for its clients to be complemented with the Canadian Sports Centre with complete indoor swimming pool, a soccer field, and a fitness center [gym, sauna, steamroom, and sunbed].

They also have a restaurant, and the cuisine features specialities from fish to traditional local dishes.

But, all that mattered to us was that theHotel Ristorante Canadian had been our "light at the end of the dark tunnel" on that exasperating October night in L'Aquila!j
