Albergo Sole: Albergo Sole
None of my habitual online booking sites had any hotel listings for Busseto (I suppose it's too small a place to show up on their radar), but I found the website of this hotel and booked directly with them.
The location was fine, right at the end of the main street Via Roma, which is essentially a pedestrian zone, and the hotel was pleasant in a shabby sort of way, but at 60 Euros per night for a single room I found it somewhat overpriced.
Breakfast cost EUR 7.50 extra and was definitely a rip-off, since it consisted merely of a cup of coffee and some sort of indefinable sweet roll.
Right behind the hotel there is a warehouse with a refrigeration unit (I suppose) which gives off a soft but penetrating hum, sort of like an airplane reversing its engines to slow down. This wasn't very loud, and it didn't keep me from sleeping (I rarely have trouble sleeping anyway), but I did find it something of an irritation.
In short, I don't think I would stay here again, but instead I would try one of the two Bed and Breakfast places that are listed in the Tourist Office brochure:
• Bazzone Mirko, Loc. Roncole Verdi, 271, Tel. 0524 - 91 95 55 (near Verdi's birth house)
• Borlenghi Giorgio, Via Consolatico Sup. 42, Tel. 0524 - 9 12 39
These are not in the center of town, but it you have a bicycle that doesn't really matter.
