Modern hotel in Cosenza
The Holiday Inn Cosenza is 5-10 minutes from downtown and the train station. A cab from the train station cost 15 Euros.
I had never stayed at a Holiday Inn before, and it was much nicer than I was expecting it to be. It was renovated in 2004. The decor was modern and clean. The room was spacious and the bed was big. The bathroom had a lot of counter space and a tub big enough for two. There is free DSL internet in the rooms as well as the lobby.
Breakfast was included and had an average selection of pastries, cereals, fruit, eggs, bacon, meats and cheeses. There is an elegant rooftop restaurant that opens at 7:30pm daily for dinner.
The hotel offers free parking, which is very handy if you plan to rent a car to explore the area surrounding Cosenza (which I recommend).
The staff were polite and informative.
The only problem we came across was with the cleaning staff. We had put our 'do not disturb' sign on the door and went out for a day of exploring. When we returned, we discovered that our room had been cleaned and not only that, our things had been moved around. We told the front desk we would like to have our room untouched and left the sign on the door. The next day, we went out in the morning and came back after a couple of hours, only to find the housekeeper in our room again. She was just at the beginning, and left when we asked her to. After that there were no problems, but if you want your room untouched, I would suggest letting the front desk know upon arrival.
We stayed for four nights, three nights at 134 Euros and one night at 109 Euros.
We would stay here again.
