Teatro Comunale A. Rendano
Four siblings and I are taking our mom to Italy for a trip of a lifetime and to visit the town that her father was born in, Figline Vegliaturo. Do any of you have a recommended way to travel there? I don't think there is any public transportation to the town. Is taxi or Avis rent a car (would they even have a car for six people) a better bet?
Also, we are coming in via train from Rome. What would be the best way to get closest to the old city area where we are staying using public transportation? The place where staying says Piazza Matteotti is the closest bus stop. Would anyone know which bus # to take for that stop?
Thank you ahead a time for taking your time to help me out. Cia
Your post is a bit confusing (or it's my brain!). Am I right to think you are basing yourselves in Cosenza and wanting to visit Figline Vegliaturo?
will give you train times, details and fares in English for the Rome>Cosenza segment.
You'll find all the various bus companies for Cosenza here:
and click 'orario feriale invernale'. You will get a PDF of bus numbers, stops, timetables etc. You'll be able to work out which bus you could take from the station (might be easier to take a taxi or two if you have luggage though).
You can explore the possibility of buses to Figline Vegliaturo using the 'oriarioautobus' link (click on the companies to get their websites).
It's only around 14km from Cosenza though, so won't be too expensive in a taxi. Local firms may have a larger vehicle available (same goes for local car hire firms)...you will need to check with them individually.
Why not write to (or phone) the Cosenza tourist office? They should be able to give you all the information you need:
