Transportation to Siracusa from Reggio di Calabria
I will be in Reggio for Easter but need to get to Siracusa by noon or 1 pm on 4/9/07. I already checked on the train schedules but can't seem to get there before the late afternoon. Can anyone suggest another mode of transportation? Is there a ferry or something?
RE: Transportation to Siracusa from Reggio di Calabria
Hmmmn, I see that no one else has answered. I looked at the trenitalia site and the problem isn't that the train isn't running, but that the ferry isn't running between Reggio di Calabria and Messina (I am doing this from memory). The first ferry is not until after noon on Sundays, and it looks like Easter Monday is also on a holiday (Sunday) schedule.
So, unless someone comes up with another suggestion, how about Sunday evening?

Travel Tips for Reggio di Calabria
Go to Capo Vaticano (near...
Go to Capo Vaticano (near Tropea) at sunset on a clear day and admire the view of Stromboli. Especially if you have a thing for vulcanoes... Don't forget to stay until it's completely dark and see if you can see the glow of lava... Proposing at the top of Capo Vaticano with a splendid view of Stromboli at sunset. That really set of some butterflies, I can tell you.
When visiting Reggio Calabre
I am sorry for the city, but I really didn't find so many things.
Pros: Great view on the Etna Volcano and the Sicilia far away
Cons: Bad ratio for hotels quality/price
Food: only pizzette and oily full meals, my fiancée couldn't eat anything.
People at the tourist office in train station didn't speak english.
The train station is out of city center in a lost place. When arriving, my girl thought it was a ghost city...
I imagine in summer it is different, I hope for the local economy.
Tropea is situated in Vibo Valentia's province, on a cliff 70 metres high falling over a wonderful jagged coast with white sandy shores; It has a geographic position that distinguishes it from so many italian and english resorts. This position gave her so many epiteths such has the Capital of the Holidays, the Pearl of Tirreno, and the Queen of Italo Coast. if you take a view from one of the so many balcons of this village, the scenery is breathtaking.
Tropea is famous for is white beaches and clear sea and its wonderful depths.
