Cathedral of St Andrew
by sandysmith
The dominating feature of the main square of Amalfi of course is the amazing cathedral, dedicated to Saint Andrew - much more info in the must see section. A visit here is the main attraction of Amalfi. Photographing the cathedral is a bit of an art in itself - guess a wide angle lens would be a good idea!
Hidden Beaches

There are many gorgeous beaches all along the Amalfi Coast that aren't touristy. This is because you have to figure out how to get to them! Look for staircases along the sides of the road. We didn't have much time to explore, but the locals were raving about these hidden sanctuaries.
Bakery, coffee shop, wine bar
by ttsui about Pansa
Great location, located to the right of the Duomo in Amalfi. They have an eclectic variety of coffee drinks, chocolate, pastries, teas, and a wide selection of local wine for purchase. If you sit outside and order drinks, they serve it with a small piece of pastry or cookie. See if Coco, a golden lab, will come and sit by you while you sip your coffee. Coco was a mainstay in the square when we visited, and would play with local kids kicking soccer ball or follow you around.
Cathedral of St. Andrew

The Cathedral was built in the ninth century and enlarged in 990, when doge Mansone III, received "the promotion and elevation of this Episcopal church to metropolitan status" from Pope John XV.
It's present architectural structure was completed in 1203.
After the collapse of the facade on December 24, 1861, The atrium and entire facade were rebuilt by Enrico Alvino, with the collaboration of Domenico Morelli.
The facade, inaugurated in 1891, is in a style reminiscent of Norman Campania architecture.
see the interesting town centre

Amalfi is not only beautiful pictured beside the sea or with its beautiful skyline with the mountains as a picturesque backdrop - walk around the streets of the town centre and you will see an interesting town centre - clean streets, beautifully kept buildings and fountains, where the locals seem happy to congregate and sit for coffee -
not to mention one of the most beautiful churches you may ever see!!
