Sita bus - need a small help with timetable

by zalek

Hi there

Had a quick look at the timetable (that I found thanks to another post) but need small help to make sure I understand it correctly.

Could someone please tell me what days exactly do those abbreviations mean? We will be in Amalfi from 15th to 23rd May.

F = CORSE FERIALI / WORKING DAYS
Monday to Friday?

H = FESTIVA / SUNDAY AND HOLIDAYS
Sunday and... any holidays during our stay?

G = GIORNALIERA / DAILY
Monday to Sunday?

S = SCOLASTICA / SCHOOL DAYS
Are 15-23 May school days?

Thank you very much.

It's late in the evening Italian time, so all of the Italy experts are likely asleep at this point(unless McCalpin is online ;). I'll give you some quick answers to be updated tomorrow morning. :o)

>F = CORSE FERIALI / WORKING DAYS Monday to Friday?

Typically "working days" in Europe means Monday thru Saturday.

>H = FESTIVA / SUNDAY AND HOLIDAYS Sunday

Yes.

>and... any holidays during our stay?

I don't think so, but a day's wait might be in order to make sure. ;)

>G = GIORNALIERA / DAILY Monday to Sunday?

Yes.

>S = SCOLASTICA / SCHOOL DAYS Are 15-23 May school days?

Yes, they are school days, but I can't say for sure if your vacation days are school days or not. Better to wait for tomorrow.

Hope this helps!

Mark

thanks a lot for the answer. That already clears a lot of questions.

We will have a car but there might be few places were we would be best to take a bus rather than a car, so knowing the timetable is pretty important.

Make sure you are at the bus stop a goodly amount of time before the bus is due.

They leave their start point on time (more or less) but there is a deal of flexibility in when they pass internediate stops.

And do stick out your hand when you see the bus coming, to make sure the driver realises you want the bus and are not just hanging around enjoying the sunshine! :-)

Schooldays are Mon-Fri.....unles there is a holiday. There are no Italian public holidays in the period you mention, but that does not mean there will be no local or school holidays. If non-one answers here, check with your hotel once you arrive.

Travel Tips for Amalfi

No wasted space!

by hersheybar

There's no wasted space in Amalfi! When you view the countryside every available piece of land is used for some purpose. They seem to have figured out how to plant something regardless of the terrain.

Valle dei ferriere

by sandysmith

This 3 hour hike starting from Minuta and then Pontone, leads down old steps and along good, sometimes shaded paths through lemon and citrus groves and then along rocky slopes to the Valle delle Ferriere Nature reserve, a wooded area with tall chestnuts trees, natural springs and waterfalls. The valley is surrounded by the high ridges of Mount Cervigliano. It resembles a deep, southfacing amphitheatre surrounded by high cliffs and has an unchanged microclimate which allows for the preservation of the Woodwardia radicans, a rare type of long-leafed fern from the preglacial age.

Paer Mill Ruins

by sandysmith

Along the path of the valle dei Ferriere you will see many ruins of the old paper mills that once flouished in the valley here. A word of warning here - don't be tempted to explore them as they are unsafe due to their state of disrepair and neglect.

Capri

by champagne_girl

Capri was fantastic. Especially going to the private beaches. You pay a fee, but get a beach bed/chair, access to a your own changing cubicle and you can order food/drinks. The water is just so gorgeous - clear and aqua.

Wander Around; Check Out the Shops

by Babzz

There are lots of little shops and restaurants to explore here. Some obviously cater to the tourists, but others manage to maintain that Italian feel of authenticity. Popular items of interest are strung-up dried hot peppers and limoncello.
