Friendly B&B

Residenza Luce is very conveniently located on the main street, moments away from the town's main square and main tourist attraction, the Amalfi Duomo, with the beach just steps further. Space is at a minimum in Amalfi, so it is built up rather than out. There are at least 20 steps from the main street to get to the outer door of the B&B, and then once you get in there are at least another 20. Something to consider for people with limited mobility or small children to consider.

The rooms are spacious and visually appealing. The floors and bathroom were decorated with lovely tiles, which Amalfi is known for. The room was extremely clean, and cleaned thoroughly each day, including the floor being washed each day. Each of the rooms is loft style, with the bed on the top level. Our room had a big jacuzzi in the bathroom. We also had a balcony overlooking the main street and Piazza, which was great for watching the activity below. Some street noise did come into our room which was mildly annoying, so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

We got a chance to meet Vincenzo, the owner, at the restaurant nearby (L'Abside) that he also owns, and he was truly friendly and helpful. He was genuinely nice.

It's a very small B&B, with only two other ladies working there that we saw, so there was never anyone at the front past 4pm. We also didn't have a number to reach anyone in case we needed them, but Vincezo is almost always at the restaurant.

Breakfast is included, but there is only a small selection of pastries, cereal and yogurt.

There is free wireless internet in the rooms. Make sure to ask for the password.

Parking is available for either 16 Euros or 18 Euros a day, depending on the season. It is through a third party company! We had some issues with them getting our car on time, but that is no fault of the B&B.

Although there were a couple of things that could be improved, we had a very positive experience, and they're doing a wonderful job, especially since they just opened in June 2007.

We paid 150 Euros a night.
