Quiet cozy family run hotel

If you want to get away from Capri town but not get too far. This is the place. We stayed here last October (2008) at the tail end of a week in the Amalfi Coast. It was quiet and beautiful. Service was extremely helpful and gracious. Luigi Esposito and his staff went out of their way to make us feel at home on their island. The hotel is set in a scenic location with clean minimalist decoration that enhances the natural beauty of the area. We found it an ideal retreat after all our hiking excursions on the island.

Breakfast on the upstairs patio, is a great way to start the day. For the quality of the facility, it's location and service, this is a great value. If we ever go back to Capri, we will return to La Minerva.

Unique Quality: The view from the private terrace is unforgettable...so peaceful. The pool area is also one to note. It is well done with emphasis on the natural landscaping of the area.

The Staff was extremely kind. Our room was generously sized. Slippers and Robe for the guests are a nice amenity as well.

Wonderful small hotel

My wife and I stayed here when we got married and friends and relatives stayed here as well. We couldn't ask for a better Capri experience. Early September weather was wonderful and the people and food were unmatched.
Piera at Capriwedding.com is a native and made our wedding unbelievable.
It was just surreal.
Be sure to hire a boat to circle the island, swim and explore. We hired "Barbara" a long wooden boat with a driver that Luigi from La Minerva recommended.

Unique Quality: Nice, small hotel with friendly staff. Reasonable for Capri with really nice rooms and baths and luxurious bedding.
Beautiful decks and rooms with the typical blue and white tiles of Capri throughout.
Breakfast included on the beautiful rooftop deck, but nicer served in your room on your own deck.
Off the beaten path by a few steps, and away from the daytime bustle on the Piazzeta.
The photo of the street leads to La Minerva along the Roman roads built by Tibirius Caesar. No cars, bikes, just miles of beatiful views with olives and figs hanging above you.
Luigi, the manager, gave us great tips about Capri and wonderful local secret restaurants.
Highly recommended.

More about La Minerva Hotel

Loved the La minerva Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member aneckc

We loved the La Minerva Hotel on Capri and would easily rate it a 4* accommocation except for the lack of a pool and a partially obstructed sea view.

This modern hotel is well maintained throughout with lovely blue Italian tile floors, clean white walls, beautiful furnishings, huge double marble sinks in the bathroom and jacuzzi tub in the superior deluxe rooms at 270 euros per night. The hotel provides guests with slippers and thick terry cloth bathrobes. Wonderful for sitting around in the morning enjoying breakfasts on your own terrace. Breakfast, for us, consisted of hot chocalate, freshly squeezed orange juice, rolls, croissants, cheeses, jams and jellies, a capreses torte to die for, and milk(latte). Yum! Quiet for us except for birds singing while we ate and enjoyed the sun and view.

Maid service was discrete and efficient twice a day including turn down service in the evenings. The hotel is located a short walk away from the noise of downtown Capri.

The manager, Luigi Esposito, is the grandson of the owner and is handsome, charming and efficient. All of the staff was friendly, gracious and efficient. We loved it here at the La Minerva and highly recommend them for a delightful stay!

Ideal Hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

This hotel was a great find. I took my partner away for a surprise valentine's weekend, and I couldn't have done better. It is much better value than most other Capri hotels. I have never stayed in a cleaner, brighter room than the room we had in this hotel. Beautiful tiled blue and white floors in rooms and reception. The location is ideal - away from the mayhem of the Piazza (but only a three minute walk) in a quiet secluded road with a marvellous view of the sea from the private balcony. Luigi is very friendly and full of good advice. Breakfast is served on a charming terrace overlooking the sea.
If you don't mind not having a swimming pool, then you simply can't go wrong with this little hotel.

Absolutely Fantastic 3 star hotel!!!

by A TripAdvisor Member

First, I read the review dated July 12, 2004, giving a poor review due to a check-out policy problem and I have to say that you should read all the other great reviews, including mine to truly appreciate this 3 star hotel. Second, my wife and I researched nearly two months for hotels in Italy for our trip last July 2004 and in the end it was surely worth the research. This wonderful hotel is as accurate as its pictures show on their website, where the lobby and rooms are beatifully decorated in white&blue themes, with modern accomodations and above all a staff that includes Luigi Esposito, who are all extremely courteous and helpfull. Breakfast is served in your bedroom or on the roof-top terrace with delicious goodies to start your day right. Capri is an expensive island and considering the price quality ratio you get with this hotel, this is surely a little treasure not to be missed. (Other hotels we stayed at in Italy and recommend are Palladium in Rome, Adler Cavalieri in Florence, Ai Mori D'Oriente in Venice and Villa La Tartana in Positano).

La Minerva Hotel on Capri--A romance slice of heaven...

by TripAdvisor Member Cal

"Absolutely the BEST little three star hotel in the world.--Or, at least, in our extensive travels...The proprietor, Luigi, went out of his way to make use feel welcomed with "five star" attitude...The location was within easy walking distance to major sites and restaurants, and about 10 delightfully scenic minutes from the town square. Since we were there in April, a pool was not a major factor since we made daily excursions to the beach and fascinating walking trails.––Capri is a feast for the eyes and soul!-- We opted for a deluxe room which was worth the minor cost difference. My wife loved the blue and white tile and our hot tub had a view of the aqua-toned sea. I would highly recommend this little piece of heaven to anyone desiring peace, tranquility, romance and convenience.

Its the real thing

This hotel was great. Yes, yes, yes it is as beautiful as its pictures on the net. Luigi was a wonderful host. The rooms were quiet, spacious and beautiful and the view was spectacular. Stayed there in late September 2004 and would stay there again without hesitation.

Wonderful Three Star Hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

We have never stayed in a three star hotel before. We couldn't have been happier with our choice. We booked a deluxe room; these rooms are only a year or two old. We had a large terrace with two lounge chairs plus a table and chairs where we had breakfast every morning. The room was spotless; maid service was excellent, they even straightened out our messy closet (very large walkin closet). Luigi was wonderful; gave us great restaurant recommendations and helped me in contacting a restaurant in Naples where I left my credit card. He made several calls to Naples for me and always with a smile. We highly recommend booking the hotels boat for a day - it was probably the most memorable day of our trip. We actually do not understand why it has only three stars. We are guessing because there is no restaurant, bar or pool. We didn't miss any of those items - the room was larger and nicer then many four and five star hotels we have stayed at. Would return to La Minerva in a heartbeat!!!

Delightful hotel in a magical place

by TripAdvisor Member RobertaNJ

La Minerva was just as described in Tripadvisor. The rooms are lovely, well-furnished and immaculate. Luigi was extremely helpful and pleasant. The only negative was lack of a pool on site - Use of pool next door was 10 euros.

Add to the accolades

We stayed here two nights in mid October and were thoroughly impressed. The room was huge, beautiful and the balcony and accompanying views were marvelous. The tile work was gorgeous. The service was friendly and accomodating. A real highlight of our trip.
