Caseopia: Out of the way on the Sorrento Peninsula

by rubbersoul75

OK, This B&B is way up in the hills on the Sorrento peninsula. About 30-40 minutes heading up the narrow, windy roads, and very difficult to find. That being said, if you can get their, you’ll get a very warm welcome by Ignazio and his wife. You’ve also got to have some Italian skills to communicate. The spot offers a wonderful view’s of the bay of naples, including Ischia and Capri. Yes, it’s up that high that you can see both islands.

Really great breakfast, with local cheeses, bread, fruits. Again, Cassiopea is in a quiet place in a rural area, and a challenge to find (village of Preazzano), but a great price for very nice accommodations.
Also of note, we had perhaps the best meal yet in Italy at the top class restaurant just down the hill.

Residenza del Duca: Best value for money

by coccinella169

In the famous tourist spots of Campania, like Positano and Amalfi are, it`s really hard to find a normal-priced but nice accomodation. Residenza del Duca is really an exception of the usual overpricing there. This hotel, which is more a B & B, is situated in the very centre of Amalfi, a few minutes from the famous duomo. It has only a few rooms which are nice decorated. The comfort is equivalent to a 4-star hotel- although there is no breakfast room. Breakfast is served in the room or on the terrace. Our room had a big terrace and a nice bathroom with Vietri tiles.
Enerving was just our room neighbour- an elderly lady. In the morning at 7 o`clock she was sitting on the terrace, which was right next to ours. Since she was talking in a very loud voice, we were awakened every day by her.
On our last evening we went out and came back in the early morning. Obviously she heard us talking in our room, came out of hers and started knocking at our door, shouting and insulting us. A bit frightening.

I guess the best you can get in Amalfi for this price.
Just be aware if you`re not that athletic, you`ll have to climb a lot of steps to reach this hotel.

Hotel Continental in Sorrento: Great View at Half the Price

by deecat

Our first choice of hotels in Sorrento was the elegant TRAMONTANO where all the famed writers and royalty stayed, but it was far too expensive.

Thus, our second choice was Belvedere Syrene because of its beauty and views to the Bay of Naples, but there was no vacancy. So, our third choice was next door at the Continental. The price includes breakfast and a view of the town park and the Bay of Naples.

The hotel was clean with large rooms, a balcony with views, English speaking news on TV, and big white fluffy towels with hoods! (loved them)

So, we had the view we wanted at half the price.

Here are the reasons we stayed at the Hotel Continental in Sorrento.

Reasonable price.

Great location within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants.

Special services such as turning down beds at night and delicious chocolates left on the stand beside the bed.

Breakfast included in the price.

Balcony with spectacular VIEWS of the park and the Bay of Naples.
