Holidaying alone in Ischia

by carolemylene

Hi guys,

I'm Carole, 36, and I'm thinking of booking a week in Ischia in July/August 07 in order to relax after attending a wedding in Madrid, Spain and after sightseeing around Italy.
I'll be going alone to Ischia. Never been to Italy before and I don't speak Italian. Well, I'm half Spanish/half French so I'm not too bothered about the language bareer (Italian is pretty similar to Spanish & French) but is there any risk of being hassled there as I'll be out and about on my own?
Thanks for advising

Carole

As a single woman who frequently travels alone, the only place I have ever been hassled in Italy (and not by locals) was in Venice. While I haven't been to Ischia I can't imagine it would be different from Capri in this respect.

Hi,

Ischia in a good idea to relax yourself. Better if you will reserve a good hotel, with pool and restaurant, so you can stay alone without any problem.
As you know in the latin countries to be alone for a young women isn't the best, expecially in south Italy.

I can suggest you to look at:

and a beautiful hotel with termal inside (I worked for that hotel chain)

Have a vacation in Ischia and in Italy

There are some pervy men on Ischia, sure. But they'll take no for an answer. The owners of my hostel kept trying to get all the female guests to go for a ride on their "moto" at night to the hot springs, but once they were rejected they just moved on to their next victim!

Hello Carole, Myself and Husband took a holiday in Ischia last year. It is very beautiful . The only thing wrong was the constant traffic noise from the thousands of scooters, that is in the main towns mostly.Once out of the built up areas it is very peaceful. Every one seemed very friendly and helpful towards us.I do not think that you will have any problems travelling alone. There is a very good bus service to take you anywhere on the island
