Chiaja Hotel de Charmes (also spelled Chiaia), is a renovated 18th century palazzo, built on a courtyard shared with apartment buildings. Very nice hotel, well located for sightseeing. (Chiaja, the name of the street, means beach - and while not on the waterfront, you're less than a quarter of mile away.) Front desk was friendly and helpful; breakfast is ok, but not great. Lovely antiques in the common areas. Reasonably priced. It's hard to find the small sign and the door to the hotel -- it's one of those small doors within two huge doors that lead into a courtyard. You'll need to ring the bell to get buzzed in, and don't forget to duck! I smacked my head twice! Reception is one floor above the ground floor. I would stay there again. More atmospheric than the nearby big hotels on the coast -- but then, no views.
