Hotel Cavour
The place is fine with excellent staff who speak English, and good rooms and breakfast. However it is in the Piazza Garibaldi near the station, which may not appeal to people as it is rough, noisy and full of traffic.
That is why I love the place: you open your window of your air-conditioned room and it is full of the sounds of the city. Street traders and cheap eating places are all around, and I would particularly recommend a kebab/pitta place just on the right as you step out of the door.
Apparently the restaurant is recommended but expensive in the evening - I didn't try it out.
Access is superb if you want to take a train anywhere, but it is a bit of a walk to the port unless you can work out the buses.
Unique Quality: They charged me a single rate for a double room: this was after my companion dropped out at the last minute. I can't fault the helpfulness of the staff.

Savour the Cavour
If you are looking for peace and quiet don't come to Naples. Here you will find the human race in all its dirty manic glory, and the location of this hotel, criticised in other reviews, is perfect for tasting the hustling, bustling hive of activity that is Napoli. I stayed in a well sized suite with terrace on the front of the hotel overlooking Piazza Garibaldi with a view over the harbour and Mediterranean Sea, Mount Vesuvious framing the view to the right. Light sleepers will not be able to ignore the constant sound of Neapolitan life that never ceases whatever the hour. I couldn't beat them so I joined them, taking middle of the night constitutionals out on the terrace to marvel at the apian vibrancy of these nutters. For the experience the location provides alone, I would recommend this hotel, but the other facts are as follows: the hotel and room was as clean as one could wish, and the staff helpful. My experience of dining was limited to breakfast which was no more than basic and cannot be recommended. If you dare to drive into Naples, there is a car park around the corner for which you are charged a not unreasonable fee. Shopping is immediately at hand on exiting the hotel, and the very best pizzerias in the world are within a few minutes walk.

A: "Very easy. There are signs to guide you. As for time between trains it depends on te departure of your train to Rome. Te walk is under 3-5 minutes."
