Excellent Hotel - Made the Naples Experience Better!
by TripAdvisor Member sandras7777
We just returned from Naples where we spent five days at the Hotel Palazzo Decumani. We only have rave reviews and highly recommend this hotel! For us, the location was perfect and the immediate area was quieter than most other places in the historic district. You can easily walk to the harbor, museums, train station and elsewhere. The hotel service was charming and excellent. The hotel and room themselves were fantastic and how you would expect for a newly renovated hotel. The actual decor in the room was very stylish and relaxing. As far as safety goes, the hotel was in a good area (Naples can be dark with all those little streets), the staff pays attention to who enters and there is a good security lock on the door and a safe in the room as well. Bottom line, we came back from Naples relaxed and would stay at this hotel again.
a great value

what a pleasant surprise. we went to the palazzo decumani without knowing anything about it or naples, except that it is centrally located and a good price. The room was lovely as was the bar/lobby area and the staff is very friendly and helpful. walking is essential in naples as the traffic is horrendous and you can walk just about anywhere from this hotel (not the airport though). The intimacy of a small hotel is a plus and our 3 nights there cost less than one night on capri and i am sure we will return there. Naples is a very noisy city but it was very quiet inside the hotel. I love Naples! oh yes, it is close to the best pizza place, da michele.

Completely Wonderful

Palazzo Decumani is such a lovely hotel. I only booked for one night as I wasn't that enthusiastic about staying in Naples - I was worried about it being dirty and unsafe. Staying at Palazzo Decumani made the trip and we would like to have stayed longer. Its in a terrific location in a very atmospheric part of Naples, walking distance through narrow streets to the archiological museum and the train station. Despite the central location, the rooms are spacious and quiet. The beautiful old building has been skillfully and sympathetically renovated and now has an extremely stylish, modern interior. Everything is brand new, sparkling clean and has been chosen with an eye for modern design.
A nice hotel would be nothing of course without excellent service. We dealt with 5 of 6 of the staff in the short time we were there and they were all completely charming, helpful and professional. They provided advice about transport and siteseeing as well as a spot on restaurant recommendation.
We arrived early in the morning, tired and disoriented from an overnight ferry trip. We were delighted to be able to check in at 7:30am and have a lovely breakfast before slipping into bed for a kip, setting us up for the day. Our room had the perfect aspect for the sun to come streaming in in the morning along with a gentle sea breeze. The beds are generously sized and comfortable with beautiful soft linen.
At 160 euros, the hotel was excellent value.
Great building, great location, fabulous service. I can't imagine a nicer place to stay in Naples.
Excellent Decumani
by TripAdvisor Member GreenfieldEngland
Palazzo Decumani is a delightful and very friendly hotel in the heart of Naples, convenient for shopping, sight-seeing and business. It is between the picturesque historic streets of Spaccanapoli and the busy Corso Umberto, but is nevertheless quiet and secluded.
The service is friendly and discreet, the hotel is spotlessly clean and tidy, and the facilities superb. Breakfast is delicious and politely and efficiently served, and beautifully presented
I would recommend it every time.

We have just stayed at the fantastic Palazzo Decumani in Naples, and cannot recommend it highly enough. The hotel is beautiful and very good value, the staff are helpful and very friendly and it is brilliantly central to the historical sites - a real hidden gem in a fantastic city.
Perfect stay

Hotel Palazzo Decumani is a perfect place to stay in Naples. Very well located within the old Naples and close to the monuments, though not well known by taxi drivers, it is also very quite.
The rooms are beautifuly decorated, modern and big, each with a small balcony and the view on a little plaza.
the Loby and common space are very nicely designed, and the big red sofas very confortable to rest after a day walking in Naples.
The staff is really helpfull and shares tips on Naples and Capri. We felt at home!
I would definitely recommend to stay at Hotel Palazzo Decumani for business trips or leisure.
Palazzo Decumani is gorgeous!

Even being a New Yorker, I was a bit nervous walking the streets around the hotel at night (although I believe that Naples in general is not the safest). But, If you do plan on visiting Naples this is the hotel to stay at! This is a fabulous new and modern hotel. A great value! The staff are friendly and professional and the rooms are simply gorgeous! We stayed in Rome, Florence and Venice as well and this was the nicest hotel by far and the least expensive of all that we stayed at. The owner, Peter, was kind enough to assist us in directions to visit Pompeii and Capri, as well as a nice place to have dinner near the hotel. We were only there for one night and we missed the luxurious hotel as soon as we left! We would definitely stay there again if we were to return to Naples!
Beautiful Albergo Palazzo Decumani
by TripAdvisor Member nicoledrogheda
We decided to stay in The Albergo Palazzo Decumani for the last night of our honeymoon.
I called to book the hotel just 2 nights before our arrival (after checking out a few hotels in Naples on Tripadvisor) and I knew from the person who answered the phone that this hotel was the one for us.
On our arrival, which was delayed by the taxi driver not knowing where the hotel was and a crazy journey through the tiny streets of Centro Storico, we were greeted warmly by the receptionist checked in and brought to straight to our room by her.
The room was a classic but gorgeous and if we were staying more than one night we could have made use of all the storage space.
The hotel's located very close to the Centro storico where you can see all the little model shops and buy the strange Christmas character, or at night you can walk down to the port area for restaurants.
An excellent location very quiet at night, lovely staff and accommodation.
Breakfast is served until 11-1130am which is extremely rare in hotels in Italy, and they have a good range of things, not all cakes which they seem to provide to guests elsewhere.
Perfect hotel in an unfriendly city
by TripAdvisor Member ipe20
This hotel can hardly be faulted. The room was very comfortable, if not huge. The bathroom was excellently appointed with quality fittings. Breakfast was the usual continental style, but as good as any you will find in Italy. Overall, the hotel was beautifully designed and equally well run by the helpful staff.
With Naples, I think location is everything... it is such a dirty and hostile city for tourists, especially compared to somewhere like Florence, that you have to choose a hotel carefully to make sure you feel safe to enjoy the positive things Naples has to offer (of which there are many). The Decumani is in a perfectly safe location, on a quiet street on the edge of the historic centre. There are no people hanging around on the streets except for the occasional local enjoying a coffee, and it is centrally placed so everything is within walking distance - I even walked to and from the station (~10 minutes) to avoid being ripped off by the taxi drivers.
If I return to Naples, I would definitely stay here again.
