The temples of Paestum
by sim1
These tempels are absolutely amazing. It is a large complex with three temples on it, but two of them are still under restoration. I wish I could have seen all three of them in full splendour, that would have been really unforgettable. But just one of these temples is more than enough to make this trip worth while!
Agora

The original Greek forum and marketplace (agora) was later built over by the Romans, who used the area as their forum. In the photo you will see a building from the 6th century BC, which served as either a real grave or an empty grave (known as a heroon), in honor of those who founded the city.
Tomb of the Diver Panel

This shows one of the side panels from the 5 sided tomb - they are displayed hung separately on a large wall in the museum and a picture is used to show how it was configured (as seen in previous tip).
Paestum

In Beautiful southern Italy you can visit 3 amazingly well preserved Grecian Temples at the ruins of Paestum. The area has a very serene quality to it. Hardly any tourists just the warm sun a quiet breeze and the feeling of travelling back in time.
