Domina Royal?
by jratz2
We are honeymooning in Rome and Positano this August (I know, a very busy month, but the only time I could off from work). We booked through Expedia.com for discount airfare and hotels, and it picked Domina Royal for us. Has anyone stayed there? I have seen a handful of reviews, just looking for some others.
Thanks!

Use the website www.venere.com
When the map of europe appears click on Amalfi Coast, followed by Positano, your hotel will be listed and you will be able to read the comments of people who have stayed there under the heading User Rating.
Good Luck,
Billy

Travel Tips for Positano
View from the water
by sandysmith
The view of Positano as we left by boat back to Amalfi was a lovely sight. Indeed this is the best way to take in Positano. It had taken us nearly 4 hours to reach here so we relished the thought of not having to hike all the way back. The 30 min boat ride (costing 4 euros) was all too short when you have such stunning scenery to admire.
Exploring the Amalfi coastline.

We took the bus from Positano to Praiano and walked to lower Praiano down by the sea. Their is a small marina with a restaurant/cafe. Their is path along the coastline with beautiful overlooks of the rugged coastline. We really enjoyed this hike because of the views and it's relative desolation after the crowds of Positano. We walked much of the way back to Positano on this path which eventually goes back up to the coastal road. This road is very narrow and many tour buses navigate this stretch which has many tunnels and blind spots. The buses have to slow way down and honk as a warning to oncoming traffic since they have this blind spot.
Get on the Bus!

Positano is a VERTICAL town and there is only one main (very windy) road that goes up and down and circles the town. My advice to anyone visiting Positano would be to not rent a car. We came across several folks who had rented cars while in town, and they ended up keeping the car in the handful of parking lots located there.
The little orange bus is the best method of getting around town, in my opinion. It costs only 77 cents and they run every 15 to 20 minutes. They can bring you all the way to the top of Montepertuso and way down to the bottom at Piazza dei Mulini. From there, you are on your own to walk the many steps and ramps to get to the beachfront.
The Positano bus drivers are well respected and the most skillful drivers I have seen. It can't be an easy task trying to maneuver the big honkers around the windy, narrow streets. Oh, and when the giant tourist buses come to town? Fuhgedaboutit! Traffic can be backed up for many blocks, but the city buses still manage to make their way through!
Taxis can be quite pricey in this town and you should only resort to one if you need a ride after the buses stop running past midnight. (keep in mind that the taxis stop running at 3am).
I had the luxury of hopping on the back of a scooter on several occasions with one of the locals.....but even that can be a bit disheartening when "Il Carabinieri" (police) are around. They tend to frequently check bikers for their insurance papers and fine you if you don't have them.
Good Touristy Food
by daner1231 about Da Vincenzo
The food was great, and the service was great as well. The view is wonderful as is the food. A little more on the expensive side, but worth it. Bruschetta was great. Caprese salad with buffalo mozzarella. yummy! Save room becuase desserts cannot be passed up!
Always catch the sunrise and never miss a sunset!

All over the beachfront areas of Positano are artists lined up with their canvases and colorful palattes trying to perfectly capture the Positano scenery. Some paint it abstractly and some paint the realistic beauty of this area. Falling in love WITH Positano and falling in love IN Positano is not a difficult task.....you have the perfect backdrop for it!
I caught this shot with my camera as we were approaching the shore after a perfect day of sailing. You must NEVER miss a sunset while you're there.....and ALWAYS try to catch the sunrise. You will see majestic colors of violets and blues that these beachfront artists thought only they could capture.
