Stunning, Gorgeous Inn in Positano

Albergo California is a gem--run by "Mamma Maria" and her family, this is a unique, perfectly-located bed and breakfast in the heart of Positano. Rooms are large and comfortable--historic, airy, and spotless. Breakfast is served on the patio, with one of the best views in town--overlooking the beach, the sea, and the curvature of the cliffside. Breakfast is delightful--buttery, airy croissants, cappucino, toast, and fruit. Mamma Maria will make sure you receive all the best tips on what to do and where to eat in town. She even arranged for our taxi to pick us up and take us to the Napoli airport (though we didn't want to leave!). A fantastic experience.

Unique Quality: Our room had a hand-painted mural from the 1700's on the ceiling, which had formerly been the family chapel. The doors to the small balcony opened up to delicious sea breezes and the most stunning view I've ever had from a hotel.

Fantastic handmade ceramics

by londonlover about Ceramica Casola

Probably the shop with the coolest location in all the Amalfi Coast--blasted into the rock along the main highway, just outside Positano. Our host at Albergo California recommended this shop as one of the few in town that produces truly hand-painted, authentic local cermaics, and the quality is impeccable. Prices are higher here than at the cheaper, touristy shops in town, but make a point of giving your business to those who keep up this tradition. It's worth it! I bought a small covered dish, beautifully hand-painted, and my mom bought a hand-painted trivet and oil bottle stopper. They have much larger items, which they will ship home for you, too. Variable--small items run as cheaply as about $30.

Weather in Late September/Early October

by LJF29

We just booked a trip from Sept. 30- Oct. 11th in Positano and Capri. Will it be warm enough to swim in the ocean or pool?

We will be there too September 26 to October 3. I think that it will be warm enough that you will want to swim. Don't know about the water temp 'tho. Hotel pool may be a better bet.

Where are you staying - we're at Albergo California as some places are booked that I liked more.....
