Living in a castle by the Mediterranean Sea
I stayed two nights at the Il Saraceno Grand Hotel in Positano on the Amalfi Coast in September 2009. The hotel is actually an old castle in Moorish style built in the 16th century by a Sultan. As you step into the hotel, you will be mesmerised by the tranquility, the medieval setting and above all, the gorgeous view of the azure Mediterranean Sea.
Unique Quality: Each room has a view of the sea and a private balcony. The hotel has a private beach where guests can lie down on deck chairs to take in the smell and sights of the Mediterranean Sea. The service at the hotel is impeccable especially at the hotel's only restaurant where the waiters chat with guests, banter with them and treat guests like old friends. There is even a private chapel where religious ceremonies and weddings can be solemnised.
