Best Hostel in Europe!!!
AMAZING!!! This was the best place I stayed in Italy!! My room had a balcony that overlooked the beautiful Mediterranean Sea!! I met three of the most amazing people here - and we all bonded together and traveled together around the area for the next three days! The food is amazing - the dining room is actually on a large deck overlooking the Sea. Every morning I had the best crepes filled with Nutella - YUM!! And at night we all had various meals [the best risotto I've ever had] and then we all drank the night away!! The Limoncellos were amazing - as was the cheap wine!! =D If ever in Positano - you really MUST stay here!!! I LOVED it!!!! :)
Unique Quality: AMAZING views!! Great tour packages of Capri. Friendly staff - very nice rooms!

Positano's Only Hostel
I spent about 2.5 weeks at this hostel during the summer of 2005. The service was very friendly and the place was clean and modern. The showers were good, my bed was comfortable...and yes, it is the only hostel in Positano.
It costs about 25 euros a night for a dorm bed, and that includes a croissant and drink for breakfast. There is a lock out all day, which could be a pain if you had a late night and just want to sleep...or spend the afternoon getting caught up on laundry or whatever. There is no kitchen, which makes eating in positano very expensive because one must resort to restaurants (although there are little shops that make fantastic sandwhiches for 3 or 4 euros that you can grab for lunch).
Just to note, I caught a look at some of their other rooms while I was there...there is a really nice double room which includes a balcony with a panoramic view of the ocean and village and private ensuite....at an excellent price compared to the rest of positano. Then they have doubles and twins at the back of the building, they aren't so nice or inviting. If you can, request the double at the front that overlooks the ocean, the others are rather gloomy.
They have internet access...but it's pricey, internet anywhere in positano is expensive...I think it ran about 4 euros for 30 minutes.
Because Positano is built on huge hill/small mountain and the hostel is at the top it means you will have quite a hike to get to the beach...luckily there are stairs in various places that go almost straight down the cliffs, rather than having to follow the winding road all the way down. As for going up again....ha! in that heat, no way! I took the bus, it's only 1 euro for the trip up and it runs every 30 minutes. You could also hitch a ride on the back of a motorcycle if you are female, the guys would be very happy to have you join them for the trip to the top.
Unique Quality: A large terrace with spectacular views of the town and the ocean.

RE: Hostel Brikette
BE AWARE Hostel Brikette, especially the owner
During 30 days of travelling in Italy, hostel brikette was definitely the worst stay. Me and my girlfriend booked a room with a double bed.
When we arrived we were assigned a room with two single beds insted of a double bed . There was absolutely no view, the room was very small, cleaness terrible. It looked like they just put in two beds in a cave. The bathroom upstairs made this weird loud sound all day that could be herad from our room. And I also observed an army of ants going around in the washroom. When we complained , one of the staff gave us 10 euro discount each day and gave us the money. But when we came back at night , they shoved in a note saying that the money had to be paid back . The owner chritnina wanted our money back. They gave us money and took it back !!.. 10 euro doesn't mean much , but the attitude of the owner when demanding the money back was horrible, and i was very offended.
If you watch carefully, u can tell right away the owner is trying to squeeze your mony as much as possible. First of all, in the shared rooms, they put you in very much crowded 10 + people room and charge 22 euros instead of conventional 18 ~20 euro. They control the amount of breakfast you eat by handing out crossaint one by one. And they charge u like 2 euro for internet.
If u are considering this hostel. I stronly recommed against it. One thing good about this hostel though, is the proximity to very nice restaranunt called constantine. ( very reasonable price, great taste )
