Margherita and family and hotel fantastic!
by TripAdvisor Member Cornwallgolfer
Booked following a review of Trip-Advisor customer reviews and found the comments very helpful and accurate when compared after the visit. The staff are wonderfully helpful and it is true that they make you feel one of the family. We were lucky enough to have room 16 with the large balcony and enjoyed watching the view and soaking in the sun there as well as by the pool. Buses outside were great, and the water ferries to and from Amalfi, Positano and Capri were great fun and great value. Trip to Ravello was also memorable. The new chef, Franco, was a real character, and Francesco, Suella, Andrea and the marvellous Margherita were all part of the wonderful experience. Please note that the negative comments from one of the recent Trip-Advisor reports was erroneously attributed to the Hotel Margherita and couldn't be further from the truth and actually was word-for-word identical to one posted for a nearby-hotel. Will definitely return!
What a Warm, Wonderful Hotel

We have stayed at the Hotel Margherita twice. The last time was in February 2007. We were traveling with family and all enjoyed our stay. This hotel is family owned and Mama Margherita does all the cooking. She makes certain that everyone eats what they want as she takes the dinner order at breakfast and the breakfast order at dinner. Suela and her husband Andrea handle other ares of the hotel and the nephew also assists in a very big way.
Everything at the hotel is great from free parking to the beautiful remodeled rooms, most with ocean views and very convenient to Positano, Capri and Amalfi. There is a bus that stops in front of the hotel for 1 Euro so you can jump on the bus to visit all the sites of the area,
This hotel is an excellent choice for both young and old, families with or without children, grandparents and of course singles and honeymoon couples.
Our family had a wonderful time at the Hotel Margherita thanks to the entire family because their family makes everyone part of their family. We have and will continue to recommend this hotel whenever possible and will stay at the Hotel Margherita when we visit the Amalfi coast. Margherita, Suela and Andrea: we want to thank you for making our trip an unforgettable experience. We will never forget the great times we have had when we stayed at your hotel.

An absolute GEM on the Amalfi Coast!

An absolute gem of a hotel! We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Margherita for our honeymoon, and are thrilled with our selection. It's a delightful place in an extraordinary location. It's family run, and each person takes a strong interest in your satisfaction.
The rooms are spacious, very clean, and tastefully decorated. Bathrooms are good-sized by European standards, and well-equipped. The view is simpy beyond compare - I truly feel is among the best views along the coast. The restaurant offered some of the best food we had during our two weeks in Italy, and their prix fixe option is a great deal - just select from the prix fixe menu in the a.m. for a great price in the p.m.
Finally, the price is unbeatable for a hotel of this calibur. I suspect it's so affordable is because the Margherita is in Praiano, as opposed to Positano or Sorrento. We LOVED the quiet, charming town of Praiano - a great respite from the busy tourist areas. In addition, it's very easy to use public transporation to get anywhere from the hotel. And the staff are very helpful with directions, booking tours, reservations, etc. A strong recommendation!
Great option! And just away from the maddening crowds

The Margherita is a family owned & run hotel, which makes it so charming. Suela & her mother Margherita herself are most informative and helpful.
The hotel is easy to get to by Flavio Gaia bus, or even the SITA which stops down the road.
However - if you want to be in the middle of the action down by the town center of Positano / Amalfi - this is not the hotel.
The Margherita is located in Praiano up on the hill - VERY accessible all day long - but just a few kms away from the centers.
I recommend this hotel for peace, quiet, the beauty and charm of the Amalfi coast without the hordes of tourists; but if you want the action this is not the place.

Family run, excellent cuisine, clean and staff were wonderful. Website www.hotelmargherita.info. Got a great deal on this hotel through itwg.com
this company also had very good deals in hotels right along the Amalfi coast.
