Hotel Parsifal - magical place
by TripAdvisor Member Diva_ms
There is no better place than the Parsifal when you stay in Ravello. A small inn that was formerly a monastery, the property's beauty is surpassed only by the quality of service of the management. Antonio and his family make you feel like you are guests in their home, nothing is too much trouble.
It is unusual for a hotel to have great dining experiences but the chef at Parsifal is fantastic. The room rate includes either lunch or dinner and the meals are out of this world. Local ingredients (some from their organic garden) are used to create masterpieces every day.
This place is a gem!
friendly little hotel

We stayed in Hotel Parsifal in August for 2 nights of our honeymoon. From the moment we arrived until the time we left the staff could not have been more helpful and they really looked after us. It is not a large hotel and the food was not wonderful but the attentive staff really made up for it. We had a fabulous view from our room and although the facilities were basic they were as expected for the price and they were adequate. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a friendly and cheap hotel in a beautiful town.
Changed Us for Life

When we arrived for our 3 day stay, Alitalia had lost our luggage, and we were 'stressed' American style! Antonio immediately took control of our luggage situation, and after our third trip to the desk sat us down to explain that "these things work out. Your luggage was lost, but would be found, and no need to worry. It is time to enjoy this beautiful place and all it holds, or you will miss out on the best time of your life." WOW!! We took his advice, and enjoyed every moment, especially the wonderful food, hospital and accommodations that this Hotel had to offer. Our dream is to return for a 7 day vacation to this location for our children. Thank you, Hotel Parsifal!
Dark, dated room, thin walls, archaic bathroom, disappointing restaurant.
by TripAdvisor Member camden78
Positives: There is free 24 hour internet access and a bar from which you can order at any time day or night. The view from the main terrace is beautiful. The staff are helpful and hardworking.
Negatives: We had a valley view room. The room was dark and sparsely furnished with a very uncomfortable bed and thin walls (we could hear neighbours showering and breakfast being prepared early in the morning), the bathroom was in need of updating: the shower pressure was poor, there was no shower curtain, the towels were like brillo pads, there was lots of visible plumbing.
We were obliged to pay for half board which included breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was pretty standard but the dinner was really disappointing. There is a set menu (we were offered bean soup as starter, pasta with a fish sauce and a salty, tough salmon as a main) for half board customers. If you wish to eat from the restaurant's main (more appetising) menu you may have to pay a supplement. The wine is not included and the markup on any of the nice wines was considerable, for example: a nice Chianti reserva which I paid 27Euro for in Cafe Positano costs 55Euro in Hotel Parsifal.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel, try nearby Hotel Giordano or Residence La Villette which are in a similar price bracket and look nice, if you have some extra cash go for Villa Maria, we had a lovely lunch on the terrace there.
Authentic Italian experience, absolutely wonderful !!
by TripAdvisor Member mlrn
My wife and I just returned from a seven night stay at the Hotel Parsifal. Simply put, it was outstanding. The hotel itself is very clean and uncomplicated. There is a guest use laptop with internet access in the main lobby which was convenient for sending quick emails. A central common room with comfortable seating and sea view is just off the main entrance. An outdoor terrace with a sea view is available anytime for relaxing or eating and drinking. Meals are served on the outdoor terrace (weather permitting), in the indoor dining room, which also has a spectacular view from any seat as the entire wall facing the sea is glass, or in your room (for a nominal additional service fee). The hotel has tile floor throughout and cathedral style rounded ceilings in the rooms. It is not “perfect”, but it is charmingly genuine. There are plans for a complete renovation within the next few years. The drawings for these upgrades are currently on display in the main lobby. I imagine that the rates will go up once these have been completed.
What to expect… The Parsifal is not a thoroughly modern, Americanized, pasteurized and homogenized hotel. It is an authentic Italian experience in one of the most beautiful places on earth. The staff and the food will amaze you. The rates are, for Ravello where you can easily spend upwards of $2,000 a night for a hotel, extremely reasonable.
The view… from our room it was spectacular as it is from just about anywhere in Ravello.
The room… We were in room 24, which faces Minori and overlooks the sea. The bed was firm and very comfortable; storage space was adequate for our needs. The bathroom was spacious and included a full size tub with a European shower. Room 23 ,which was next to ours, has an enormous balcony with a table and seating for four !
The food... We booked during July, so half-board was included; this is breakfast and either lunch or dinner. Breakfast is continental style with a selection that included: cappuccino, espresso, American coffee, teas, juices, yogurts, fresh and dried fruits, croissants, hard boiled eggs, salamis, cheeses, breads, pastries and a variety of cold cereals. Lunch was full fare; we ate lunch at the hotel only once during our stay and it was excellent. There was an appetizer course of tuna and anchovies with basil, tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and an olive oil vinaigrette over homemade crusty bread followed by “flag” fish (described as a type of blue fish) with a fresh lemon and orange sauce, green beans from the hotel’s garden and a small serving of broiled potatoes, also from the garden. It was very light and cooked to perfection, one of our favorite meals of the stay. Dessert was a boozy and light home made coffee cake. We ate dinner at the hotel every night except once when we splurged and went out in town (we ate at Cumpa Cosimo, which was excellent!). Each night at the hotel we were presented with something inventive and delicious; house wines are regional and we sampled them based on Antonio’s expert recommendations. A full bar is also available for pre and post meal cocktails.
Things to do... We choose Ravello as our Amalfi Coast destination because it is peaceful and beautiful. There was more than enough for us to do and see in Ravello for the entire stay. If you want night clubs with thumping music which stay open all night, you will not find any. You will find a central town square which is alive with activity until late at night where you can sit and people watch, sip a limoncello or eat some gelato and just relax. We went to Capri, but regretted it. The ferry ride was vomitiously choppy on the way out and the island itself was overrun with tourists. We also went on a tour of Pompeii and Vesuvius which was booked through the hotel. It was an excellent tour and it only cost about 80 Euro for two people including all tickets and transport –recommended.
Antonio, Leonardo, Stefania, Raffaele, Raffaele Junior and especially the Chef / kitchen staff ! --Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.
Beautiful

We stayed at this hotel only one night and it was a great choice! Amazing view, excellent food, beautiful gardens, close to main "attractions", exceptionally nice staff, parking at reasonable cost, and free internet.
Truly delightful
by TripAdvisor Member mikary
We stayed here for four nights in early August and can only reiterate what so many before us have said. The Parsifal is a true delight. We can add nothing more as regards the excellent food and wine, the spectacular views or the standards of cleanliness. Similarly, the helpfulness of all the staff is nothing short of remarkable; nothing is too much trouble.
If you get the opportunity to spend a few days or, even better, a few weeks here, then take it. We hope to return as soon as we possibly can.
very satisfied - great staff
by TripAdvisor Member HonestJohn99
This was great value and a great location with the best staff. 3 star hotel with 5 star service. Restaurant terrace view amazing. Staff very friendly and eager to please. Paid twice the price for another hotel in Sorento and it didn't match this. Only problem obviously there is no pool and I don't think there are any beaches near buy if this is what you are looking for.
Lovely staff and view
by TripAdvisor Member patdileva
I was so impressed with this little hotel with a big heart. The location is perfect and the staff was a treasure. We were attending a lovely wedding in Ravello and arrangements were made for us, from the minute we stepped into this hotel we felt and were treated like family. The hotel is in a 700 year old convent which has been restrored, it is immaculate and the gardens overlooking the city of Amalfi and further down the coast were delightful. The food was excellent and prepared with every request met. The location is a little walk up to the piazza, which is a delight and the location for the wedding in the garden of the city hall was wonderful. I will certainly return and thanks to Antonio and his family for a wonderful experience. They also recommended Ravello Taxi which was terrific. Again, Thank you for a lovely stay.
